In an exciting development for Beijing’s commuters, McDonald’s has introduced Smart Cars within select subway stations. These eye-catching Smart Cars are decorated in McDonald’s signature red and yellow colors and offer a convenient dining experience right on the go. According to Beijing Daily, these McDonald’s smart dining cars actually popped up in March 2023, but I just recently noticed one on my usual commute path in December 2023 in Beijing. It seems they are rolling them out slowly and selectively at certain stations. And of course, I wanted to see how it worked! View this post on In ..read more

If you’re planning a trip to Beijing, hiring a private driver for a day trip is a great option to consider! While Beijing has a great public transportation system, including metro, buses, taxis, and ride-hailing apps, there are times when hiring a driver for a trip is more convenient. I’ve hired drivers on multiple occasions in Beijing for trips to the Great Wall, and having a driver offers convenience and flexibility. You can plan your own itinerary, and not get stuck waiting for buses. If you’re seeking a recommendation or want to connect with a local Beijing driver, I have a service in Beij ..read more

While the Temple of Heaven is a marvel to behold throughout the year, visiting during winter adds a unique charm to the experience. This week Beijing is experiencing it’s first snowfall of the season, so I’ve been trying to soak up as much winter scenery as I can. The early winter is probably my favorite in Beijing – the chances of snow are high, but the temperatures haven’t plummeted too much to make being outside unbearable! I’ve visited the Temple of Heaven many times throughout the years, and had to visit again to see the snowfall on this iconic Beijing site. Come with me on a winter walk ..read more
