Water Canyon is a challenging 6.6 mile out and back hike in the Dixie National forest near Hilldale, Utah. The waterfalls are best in the Spring. These images are from late April. Neon Canon is one heck of a hike. It’s about 10 miles round trip with 1300-1500 ft elevation change depending on the route. Add another 0.5 miles for a side trip to some interesting but graffiti-marred petroglyphs. Hell Hole Canyon, part of the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve is one of the premier Southern Utah hikes when conditions are right. I describe the conditions below. Feature Image Details EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera Canon 16-35MM F4 L Lens at 16 MM F13 seconds, ISO 100 for 8 seconds The feature image is a blend of multiple exposures. The smooth water exposure was for 8 seconds. To eliminate movement in the trees and shrubs, I took focus-stacked images at 1/8 of a second. Lake Manly in Death Valley has the most water in 10,000 years. The lake is 6 miles long and 3 miles wide. These images are from February 26 through March 1, 2024.
