In November, the WBC placed Ngannou at No. 10 in the heavyweight rankings based on his impressive boxing debut against Tyson Fury. He had recorded a stunning third-round knockdown of the undefeated WBC world champion, but he eventually lost by split decision.

In what already feels like a drawn-out process, Canelo Alvarez’s efforts to secure an opponent for a May 4th fight on Cinco de Mayo weekend appears to have taken another twist today.
ESPN Mexico’s Salvador Rodríguez reports that Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), who Canelo has fought only one of his three contracted fights with the promotional entity, is unwilling to match a reported $35 million contractual guarantee for a Jermall Charlo fight.

Canelo’s big unification fight against Danny Jacobs on Saturday night continues to welcome in a fantastic new era for fans of the Mexican hero. Boxing’s only active pay per view star is ushering in a new dawn for boxing, having signed a huge 11 fight deal to fight exclusively on streaming service DAZN last year.
The fight marks the first PPV boxing fight, not actually on PPV!
Proud Mexican fans have been expected to shell out nearly $80 for each of Alvarez’s HBO fights over the past five years. However, that is all set to end.

Former two-weight World Champion Carl Frampton looks set to leave BT Sports & Frank Warren’s promotional stable to join the PBC revolution on ITV.
According to Tim Smith, Vice President of Communications for Haymon Boxing, which still handles the fighter, the Northern Irish hero is unlikely to remain in his current promotional situation beyond his World title fight with Josh Warrington on 22nd December.

Back in August 1988, a then 22-year-old Mike Tyson was already a unified Heavyweight world champion. The proclaimed ‘baddest man on the planet’ was busy doing exactly as advertised.
