Here at KCFF, every day is national Canadian film day! But, for one day a year, our friends at Reel Canada organize celebrations from coast-to-coast-to-coast, highlighting and showcasing our national cinema on a grand scale. This year, the official National Canadian Film Day is April 17 and the works of heavy-hitters like Cronenberg, Polley, Villeneuve, Egoyan, and many others will be on display.

After a wildly successful first edition, we are delighted to announce that we’re now accepting applications for the second edition of the 18 MM Program!
This course and workshop series aims at providing participants with basic knowledge of the cinematic art and the necessary skills for filmmaking practice. Selected participants will receive 9 months of training, culminating in the production of their short films which will be screened at KCFF25!

If you’ve been to KCFF before, you’ll know that our French Canadian films are some of the best of the fest, and this year is no exception. From Charles-Olivier Michaud, we have a gorgeous adaptation of Kim Thúy’s award-winning novel RU, which tells the story of a prosperous Vietnamese family forced to flee to Montreal.
