It’s the 24th week of reviews for 2022 and I read six (6) books this week. As of today, I’ve finished a total of 142 out of 208 in my 2022 Goodreads Challenge, which equates to 68% complete and 46 books ahead of schedule. Beyond reading, the week was fairly normal. I went into the office for two days and met my former boss (who’d hired me 4 months ago but then moved into a different role) for the first time in person (she’s based out of California) and met the new head of my division, who happens to live in the town next door to me (where I shop all the time). Small world! In terms o ..read more

It’s the 23rd week of reviews for 2022 and I read six (6) books this week. As of today, I’ve finished a total of 136 out of 208 in my 2022 Goodreads Challenge, which equates to 65% complete and 45 books ahead of schedule. How has another week already passed? As I reflect back, it was a relatively quiet one too. Most of my time was focused on work; I didn’t do a whole lot else! In terms of the new house, we have quotes/options for the new curtains, blinds, paint, bedding, and furniture that’s needed in the primary bedroom and guest bedroom. It’s definitely more than I want to pay, so ..read more

It’s the 22nd week of reviews for 2022 and I read six (6) books this week. As of today, I’ve finished a total of 130 out of 208 books in my 2022 Goodreads Challenge, which equates to 63% complete and 42 books ahead of schedule. Beyond the literary world, my week was filled with all the typical things I’ve been mentioning recently. I closed on the NYC apartment, so it is officially no longer my property. I met the lovely new owner and wished her tons of happiness. It was slightly bittersweet, but I also adore my new home. I saw a stage production of Cabaret in Connecticut this week, s ..read more

It’s the 21st week of reviews for 2022 and I read six (6) books this week. As of today, I’ve finished a total of 124 out of 208 books in my 2022 Goodreads Challenge, which equates to 60% complete and 40 books ahead of schedule. Outside of novels, my week was busy but good. On the job front, I’ve been pulled into at least 5 new projects, making my total somewhere around 12 different initiatives, some of which are small and others which are large. I like the variety but it’s a lot of headspace transitions to make throughout the day. On the NYC apartment side, closing is set for this we ..read more

It’s the 20th week of reviews for 2022 and I read seven (7) books this week. Beyond the literary world, I spent most of my time working. I’m fully immersed in the new job and keeping a hectic schedule. Many of the colleagues I work with are based in California, so I’m finding myself fairly busy between 5 and 7pm EST each night, which isn’t ideal. I prefer to wind down by then, commute home (on days I’m in the onsite office) and make dinner. On the flip side, my mornings are much slower, so I can get a lot deliverables done without interruption. Hopefully, it will balance out with a proper work ..read more

It’s the 18th week of reviews for 2022 and I read three (3) books this week. Things have been coming together with closing the items required from the escrow on the new CT house. Everything was sent to the bank this morning, so hopefully by the end of the month they will sign off that all requirements are complete and send me a check covering the remaining escrow balance. That check will go directly to the painter to start making the place my own. Colors have been picked!!! I’d paint it myself but with the new job and the fact that all the upstairs cathedral ceilings are 14 feet high, I’ll nev ..read more

It’s the 17th week of reviews for 2022 and I read three (3) books this week. Now that I’m settling into my new home, I’ve begun a few house projects that keep me busier after work. Everything’s unpacked, and we’re beginning to select paint colors and choose where to hang the art and photos we’ve collected over the years. Cooking has been happening much more lately, now that everything’s available in the kitchen, so that’s been a nice change of pace. The new car is here, and it’s fantastic. Things are falling into place… if only my NYC apartment would close. Another delay this month, which make ..read more

It’s the 14th week of reviews for 2022 and I read five (5) books this week. I completed all my final packing for the moving truck during the last few days, so reading wasn’t a priority… but I was glad to find all the time I did. As I draft my post, I’m living in the new house in Connecticut and probably beginning to unpack the first box this morning. Temporary car rented until mine arrives at the dealer. Lots going on! Baxter is not sure how he feels about an empty house, though he does love all the nature and property outside for playtime. As of today, I’ve finished a total of 89 out of 208 b ..read more

It’s the 13th week of reviews for 2022 and I read ten (10) books this week. Even though we’ve completed a quarter of the year, I’m only sharing 7 reviews this week; 3 are part of a newly published YA mystery series that I beta read. I’ll share a book alert on them in another week. In terms of my non-literary life, it’s the final week of packing and moving everything else over to the new house in Connecticut. I’m also picking up my new car this week. It’s exhausting to deal with all this stuff! I will need a vacation soon. Until then, let’s talk book news. As of today, I’ve finished a total of ..read more

It’s the 12th week of reviews for 2022 and I read seven (7) books this week. I’m not entirely sure how (with everything going on in my life this month) I managed to read a book each day. I’m noticing that I can read more quickly, and when I read several in a series in the same week, I might slightly skim some of the descriptions that aren’t new content. But I only have a few more to catch up where I’ll be reading several per week, so it will be a more normal pace again soon. In terms of non-literary life… mostly I spent the week packing and setting up various utility bills in my name. I’m head ..read more
