December 2015 – our first house sit for 6 cats in Thailand We’ve found the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” to be so true. Since our first house sit in Thailand in December 2015 the time has just flown by. We’ve travelled all over the globe from Australia to Asia to Europe to the Middle East to North America and enjoyed so many memorable homes, home owners and most importantly – pets. We didn’t realise until just recently that in August 2019 we completed our 50th house sit! When we embarked on our house sitting journey I don’t think we had any idea how exciting and fulfilling ..read more

Caring for a pair of orphan Lambs

In February 2019 we accepted a 2 week house sit in Hampshire, England caring for sheep and pigs on a small rural holding. The sit would be in April and we were told that even though it would be lambing season there would be no additional responsibilities. The sheep would look after themselves and their lambs however prior to arrival things had changed. One week before arriving, we received a message saying that two lambs had become orphaned and would require bottle feeding. This would be a new experience for us and we were excited at becoming surrogate parents for these twins. The t ..read more

We did a total of 6 house sits during our 5 months in Mexico (Oct 2018 – March 2019). Our previous post “House Sitting in Mexico part 1” covered our first three sits so this post will cover the other three we did in Puerto Vallarta, Patzcuaro and San Miguel de Allende. Puerto Vallarta – Bubba and Carlye Puerto Vallarta (also known as PV) is located on the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of Mexico. The climate here is generally very hot and humid however January (when we were there) is the best time to visit as the temperatures are always in the 20’s (Celsius) and the humidity decreas ..read more

Getting into the “spirit” of the Day of the Dead celebrations Colourful festivals, music and horses ridden down the main street are just a few of our fondest memories of Mexico.  We spent 5 months there (Oct 2018 – March 2019) and during that time we completed six house sits and cared for 9 dogs, 4 cats and a herd of goats. The pets ranged in age from 5 months to 19 years. Like children, it’s hard to pick a favourite, we loved them all equally. We sat in a variety of locations –  which allowed us to experience many, but not all, of the different cultures that make up Mexico ..read more

Here we are house sitting in a town called March (in the United Kingdom) which is a silly name because it makes you think of the month March and not a town. Nevertheless we are looking after a beautiful, fluffy Samoyed called Freddie. Our time here is only nine days but long enough to explore this pretty town and nearby Peterborough which is a historical city with a beautiful cathedral. Freddie was super sweet and a delight to care for. He loved absolutely everyone, except the mailman. The post box had to be moved from the front door to the street! The gorgeous Freddie Fr ..read more

Cookie – a gorgeous wee Jug

We stayed on in Edinburgh for a 2nd house sit during July looking after the delightful, and tiny, ‘Cookie’. She is a 4 year old JUG  (Jack Russell x Pug) and a tiny girl that has her bed set-up at the front window. She’s an excellent guard dog as anyone who walks up to the front door will get the ‘full force’ of her barking and for a little dog she makes a lot of noise – she particularly dislikes the postman! We are sitting for 12 days in a comfortable 3 bedroom flat for an Australian family in Marchmont. A charming suburb very close to a Parkland called The Meadows and walkin ..read more
