Ethiopia Koke- 93 points on Coffee Review

You may have noticed a particular Passport Collection coffee on our shelves recently: our Ethiopia Honey Yirgacheffe Koke. Coffee Review recently scored it at a 93, and (we think), for good reason! This coffee is a naturally processed coffee, meaning the bean is dried as it is when picked from the plant; the cherry is only removed after it's been completely dried. This is a common method, but results are sometimes unpredictable, yielding coffees that can lack clarity of flavor. Not so with the Ethiopia Koke. This one is fruit-forward with notes of dark chocolate, lemon verbena, maple syrup, an ..read more

Cup of Kindness™ January 2021 As a small business, we recognize just how much we need our local community. That's why we're invested in giving back however we can. Through our Cup of Kindness™ program, we make a $500 charitable contribution to one of three local charities based on our customers' votes. These charities do so much to support those in our community, so we love supporting them in their respective missions. This last quarter, our customers' top vote went to Loggerhead Marine Life Center, a center that works toward sea turtle and ocean conservation. They actively give treatmen ..read more

We are continuously on the lookout for great recipes containing coffee as a star ingredient! These Oceana Coffee Sugar cookies have been a favorite for the last couple of years! We have given them as gifts at the holidays and brought them to holiday parties, especially great at a cookie swap party! This would make a great hostess gift, accompanied by a bag of fresh roasted Oceana Coffee. We have used the Downunder Blend in this recipe but any of our origins would work great! We are making these on Halloween and we have cut out some lovely bat shapes, pumpkins, and owls. Pro tip: Make sure your ..read more

TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE! When we saw this post yesterday from Els For Austism those were my exact thoughts. Sometimes it's not easy to toot your own horn but this is one story that we are very proud of at Oceana Coffee, and it is told beautifully by the team that supports Bryan, so we thought we would share. I was not aware that there was a National Disability Employment Awareness month but we are really happy to share our story of success and how Bryan has enriched our company and our team. We are so proud of Bryan and his continued success with us and we look forward to many years t ..read more

PUMPKIN SPICE, SPICE BABY! It is a little crazy how many products at this time have a version that comes in Pumpkin Spice. I am not sure where our obsession with the fruit came from, yes it is a fruit! Was it Disney's influence with Cinderalla's coach turning into a pumpkin? Is it just our love of Thanksgiving and pumpkin pie, those flavors represent a warm hug from family members? Whatever it is, the population is certainly crazy for it, waiting patiently each year for the pumpkin spice lattes to roll out. This year many places started offering this seasonal flavor in August! Maybe in ho ..read more

Supporting the local community is integral to our mission at Oceana Coffee.  Being a local business ourselves, we've been so grateful for how our community has supported us on the daily for our ten plus years of operation.
