If the kitchen is the heart of the home, then organization is the exercise that keeps it running smoothly. The key is to think things through and plan ahead and organize your kitchen for efficiency. Below are some things that help maintain order and preserve natural flow in our family’s kitchen: Make a Menu Plan the week’s menu before heading to the grocery store. This will allow you to take full advantage of special sales, eliminate the need for subsequent trips to the store for forgotten items, and reduce the daily thought needed to get dinner on the table. For All People Coloring Page

I got a message from a reader this morning saying she’d printed out a copy of my Love Your Enemies coloring page to use for the children’s Sunday school class she teaches at her church. I sent her a copy of my Praying for Your Enemies prayer guide to use as well, since God declared His house should be a house of prayer for all people. That means all people can go to His house to pray, certainly. But it should also mean that His house is a place where prayers should be offered for all people as well — even people who hate us, curse us, mistreat us (or violently disagree with us). click to pri ..read more

The 23rd Psalm (Free Printable)

Since New Year’s, I’ve been sending my kids and grandkids monthly memory work challenges to motivate them to memorize scripture. So far we’ve covered the Ten Commandments, the Days of Creation, the Fruit of the Spirit, the Roman Road, and various other assorted verses, but this month we’re learning the 23rd Psalm. Whoever can quote it to me by the end of the month earns a prize. Since we have such a wide range of ages, I modify the passage to accommodate different skill levels. This month, ages 1-6 only need to learn the first 2 verses to win the prize. Ages 7-11 must memorize the first four ..read more

In the month of June, I finished a total of six books, including (for the first time ever) Whatshisface by Gordon Korman. Read on for my impression of each work: 6 Books I read in June The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis My daughter and I finished listening to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis together last month. One of my favorite parts: When in Ramandu’s country, Caspian made it clear to those who were grumbling over the prospect of sailing to the end of the world, that nobody was under compulsion to continue. Rather, accompanying the ship further was a privilege that ..read more

Trump and Biden are squaring off tonight for the first time this election season. Is anybody else looking forward to watching? To make viewing the upcoming presidential debates a little more fun and interesting, I whipped up some free printable Debate Night Bingo Cards just for the occasion — something my husband called home this afternoon and suggested I do! I thought that was a fantastic idea, so I tried to fill these cards with as many talking points, buzzwords, and soundbites I could find from speeches #45 and #46 have made in the past. You’ll have to listen closely if you hope to hear th ..read more

Today I’m sharing the very last installment in my Roman Road series, which is my Call on the Lord coloring page. It features the words of Romans 10:13, “For whoever will call on the name of the LORD will be saved.” click to print the Call on the Lord Coloring Page Did you catch any extra conditions on this promise? I didn’t. The LORD offers salvation to everyone who calls upon His name, without exception. “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) It’s a straight I ..read more

A Rousing Round of Romi Rami

If you haven’t figured it out by now, our family loves playing games. We play them at noon or at night. We play them alone and with friends. We play them at home or on the road. One of the games we took with us on our last road trip was Romi Rami. We’d never played before, but the box was sturdy and compact and fit easily in my suitcase. The gameplay instructions were a little long, but we quickly got the hang of it. Romi Rami is a strategy game, so you have to think ahead several moves to maximize your points. You also need to pay attention to what your opponents are doing in order to thw ..read more

Well, it’s June, and I spy a bunch of rainbows! The world is once again awash in vibrant colors. Not only will you spot Roy G. Biv in public school classrooms, updated business logos, and social media profile pics, but you can find those same vivid colors on grand display in red geraniums, orange marigolds, yellow day lilies, green grass, blue skies, and purple petunias. The fact is, God is the one who created the rainbow and every hue within it. The rainbow serves as a sign of the covenant God made with Noah and with every living creature of all kinds for all generations to come. He said ..read more

LogiBugs is LotsaFun

My family is on vacation in North Carolina this week, and I brought along a new travel game called LogiBugs to play while we’re gone. LogiBugs is a one-player game, so we’ve had to take turns playing. The game is designed for ages 6 and older. The little ladybugs are all magnetized and therefore stick snuggly on the metal case. Aren’t they cute and chunky? Their size and shape make them easy to handle. There are 48 challenges in the box, each in a progressing level of difficulty. After placing ladybugs in the starting position, you must figure out a way to place all the remaining ladybugs ..read more
