The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) says global semiconductor industry sales totalled $47.6 billion during the month of January 2024, an increase of 15.2% compared to the January 2023 total of $41.3 billion. RS Components is laying off up to 130 workers at its Corby, Northants facility. Arrow Electronics Q4 sales fell 16% year-on-year to $7.84 billion. Full year sales to December 31, 2023 dropped 11% to $33.1 billion. Profit fell to $195 million from $349 million the previous year. The European components distribution market declined in Q4, ending a long period of growth, according to DMASS. Distributors and manufacturers in DMASS reported consolidated sales of 4.45 billion Euro in Q4/2023 (-17.3% compared to Q4/22). Semiconductors dropped to 3.1 billion Euro (-18.5%), IP&E (Interconnect, Passive and Electromechanical) components declined by 14.3% to 1.35 billion Euro.
