All photographs from It Was All a Dream.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about the ebbs and flows of inspiration during this pandemic, especially working with a variety of photographers and seeing the patterns of motivation. It’s been fascinating to watch.
At the time, it’s summer here, many are traveling, making up for lost time, some are still fairly locked down, and everyone’s going a little bonkers.
And I’ve heard a lot of people mention that they haven’t felt inspired to photograph. That’s what inspired this post.
You might be feeling like you’re running around with your hair on fire and it ..read more

Then things get even more complicated when you think about mood, ideas, and feelings that you want to portray.
Despite all this uncertainty, there ..read more

How to Do Event Photography – Tips for Business, Conference, and Family Events
Event Photography is a lesson in extremes – you might be capturing one day a gala with gorgeous lighting, beautiful clothing, and lots of energy. Then the next day you could photograph a 10-hour industry event in a dimly lit conference room, waiting patiently for someone to make a joke to get that rare smiling photograph.
Despite the environment, you have to come back with good photographs. You need to be prepared for terrible lighting, awkward people, and long, sleepy speeches.
Here are some tips that I have ..read more

How to Approach a Good Photobook
The photobook is an artform inside the artform of photography. It transforms the individual photograph and can give it more power to tell a story, create an emotion, or push along a narrative.
Whether creating a project or reading a photobook, you can see that a whole new set of parameters exist. How do you most effectively tell a story? What’s the right amount of photographs to use? Do you show a broad array of photography (portraits, closeups, wide environmental shots for instance), or do you keep the type of photography ..read more
