In Sabato we trust: our thoughts on Gucci Fall 2024

Cut the camp! Move over maximalism! Gucci is well and truly growing up under the creative eye of Sabato De Sarno. But don’t get us wrong, De Sarno’s vision for his second womenswear outing at the House is anything but old and stuffy. In fact, we’d say the Gucci Fall 2024 show has been one of Milan Fashion Week‘s most contemporary and talked-about presentations. Held on the outskirts of Milan over the weekend, Gucci’s Fall 2024 runway show was a masterclass in elegance and Italian chic. Focusing on a sophisticated colour palette of olive greens, eggshells, inky blacks, chartreuses and of course ..read more

More than ever, everyone wants something wearable, clothes that can function in the bustle of daily life. But what does this mean through a high fashion lens? Matthieu Blazy provides an answer with Bottega Veneta’s Fall Winter 2024 collection. The clothes While functionality and pragmatism was on his mind, Blazy was never going to send athleisure down the runway. The collection strayed away from decoration and embellishment, yet it wasn’t austere, opting to charm the everyday with outsized shapes and sumptuous textures. These are clothes you could wear to the office, to the grocery store, down ..read more

Want hair like Dua Lipa? Here are 5 products she swears by
RUSSH
by Emily Algar

It’s a universal truth that Dua Lipa has great hair. The singer and actress has changed up her style a lot over the years: there was the bleach blonde and brunette crop, long dark hair that coincided with her rise to mega-stardom and Future Nostalgia tour, and now the red. Her commitment to keeping things fresh is admirable, but the colouring, bleaching, heat styling and chemical processing also comes with damage. Fortunately, Dua Lipa seems to have her haircare routine down pat, sharing five of her favourite hair products she can’t live without formulas via her newsletter, Service 95. Find th ..read more

Are we about to witness a new wave of pirate fashion?
RUSSH
by Jasmine Pirovic

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about Kate Moss and her Vivienne Westwood Pirate Boots. Those beaten up bits of sandy leather that were buckled and bound to her feet (and Sienna Miller’s) for much of the early noughties. Call me unserious, but I feel a wave of pirate fashion coming on. The ship has sailed and docked right on our shores. So be prepared for nautical stripes, huge belts and ruffles to come climbing down that rope ladder. Of course, we can’t talk about pirate fashion without drawing Aunt Viv into the conversation. Her 1981 collection Pirates, for most of us, is where it all began ..read more

In life, when you’re one inconvenience away from asking WWJD?, I like to shift my gaze from heaven… to the stars. Any problem, crossroads, or question can be solved (or at least settled) by a long hard look at your birth chart. Take, for example, the eternal dilemma of what exercise to try. While, the stars won’t answer you with the desired “none,” they will respond with a workout routine catered to the traits of your zodiac. And by the stars, I mean me. (Sorry). So let’s dig in shall we? Here’s the exercise style you should do for your star sign. Capricorn: Running while answering emails No ..read more

Will your next car be an electric one? It’s complicated
RUSSH

In the last few months there has been a wave of new electric vehicle announcements. Everything from the imminent arrival of the Renault Megane E-Tech to Australian shores, down to the sad delay of the supremely sexy Maserati Levante EV. It has reopened a decidedly prickly can of worms – ‘will your next car be an electric one?’ Almost everyone you speak to will have a strongly-worded view around electric vehicles. I’ve heard them all. From “electric vehicle adoption is inherently esoteric and classist”. All the way to “the purchase of new petrol cars is tantamount to environmental vandalism”. T ..read more

13 perfumes that are just as memorable as Baccarat Rouge
RUSSH

People often ask me what kind of fragrance I like to wear. Citrus? Gourmand? A classic white floral? My default answer used to be anything smoky, masculine – preferably niche – but I’ve come to realise that what I really gravitate towards is any perfume that’s memorable; something you could smell once, but go on to recognise in a crowd. I have a theory that this is the common denominator linking ‘viral’ scents. Pre-social media, there was Mugler Angel. Inspired by Thierry Mugler’s childhood trips to the fair, Angel was sweet, syrupy and evocative. It smelt like food, not flowers or musk. You c ..read more

This week we transitioned from London Fashion Week to the ateliers of Italy, and already there are plenty of memorable moments happening at Milan Fashion Week (Gemma Ward returning to the runway for Max Mara? Prada’s impeccable show?). But even on our shores, there’s plenty of fashion moments to discuss. One of our favourite Australian jewellery brands has opened up their biggest boutique yet in Melbourne, and a heritage department store has hosted an immerse and experiential seasonal showing. One of the world’s rarest and most beautiful High Jewellery collections has made its way to Sydney fo ..read more
