One of the hardest parts of the journey to adoption is not knowing when your yes will come. Families take so much time to learn about adoption, prepare through education, ready their hearts and home, sign on with adoption agencies, and then they enter the season of waiting. I spend a lot of time in this season with families reminding them that when an expecting mom chooses them to love and raise their child, it will be worth every single ounce of faith and heart. As they wait, they can be praying for these moms and babies with purpose and love.  It was such an honor to walk with Matt and ..read more

There is something so sacred about entering into a relationship with a family who chooses you to raise their little one. If we are honest, it should be. It is meant to be kept close and held so sweetly and delicately. Regardless of what that relationship looks like in the future, the moment she lets go and you hold close, a bond is set that is unable to be broken by the wildness of the world. This is what I think about as I sit and reflect on Seth and Kelly’s adoption story. They appreciate the sacredness, honor the sacrifice, and step into the gaps of brokenness to bring a bit of sweetness an ..read more

What are the steps to adoption? How do we create our profile? How do we make decisions about openness? How long will the wait be? Will we go through an interrupted adoption? There are dozens of good questions hopeful adoptive families have during the adoption process. But there’s some questions that are often whispered in secret, in the midst of the long wait, when a couple will ask, “Is this worth it? Are we on the right track? Did we get it wrong when we heard from God?”  Today Dan and Amanda share their journey, along with their questions in the midst of the process. How they ..read more

It was an honor walking with Jenna and Matthew through the journey that led them to their son. Jenna & Matthew, I am in awe of your strength and faith throughout the ups and downs of the adoption process. The courage you had to continue moving forward despite the obstacles you encountered is an inspiration to many! Jenna shares their story below. As long as I can remember the Lord placed the desire in my heart to become a mother. Growing up, I struggled with some health issues. In light of this, I was recommended to see a fertility specialist. After having a few tests done, they revealed ..read more

Hearing “no” from an expecting mother/parent is one of the most difficult aspects of adoption for hopeful adoptive parents.  I would venture to say it’s one of the most difficult things I have to share with my families: “She/They chose to move forward with another couple.”  Even though I’m grateful the expecting mother connected with a different family, it’s never easy to share the news with my families who were not chosen. When my husband and I were walking through the adoption process a situation was presented to us that we immediately connected with. I remember receiving the infor ..read more

Every adoption story is unique. I like to think the Lord makes them extra special to share in glory and goodness from really tough and gut-wrenching places-bringing two unfamiliar families together to love a single little being. I was honored to walk with Emily and Micah through the journey that led them to their son. Emily shares their story below. Our life has been touched by adoption in numerous ways, from my siblings and now to our son. My husband and I started the adoption process with CAC in July of 2021 after miscarriage and infertility. We completed our home study by the end of August ..read more

Are you willing to “lose face” with loved ones? We all know how it feels to disagree with someone we love. The old saying, “I’m not dying on that hill,” can be so true with family and friends. We all have that sibling, family member, or friend that is always willing to push the boundaries with off-color comments, actions, or even activities. Sometimes, it’s a lack of self-awareness; other times, it’s intentional. So, what happens when those comments alienate your transracial adoptee? How do you respond? What’s the right way to respond? There’s not a one size fits all answer, but it’s essential ..read more

I had the pleasure of walking with Ryan, Katie and their 4 sweet kiddos,  through the adoption journey that led them to their beautiful daughter! As you will read, the story to their baby girl was not an easy road, but they continued placing their trust in the Lord through the ups and downs of the adoption process. “Faith” and “perseverance” are two words that come to mind when I think of this amazing, godly family. I know they would attribute these qualities to God’s grace and strength in their hearts and minds, and I couldn’t agree more. Ryan and Katie, I am in awe of the story God has ..read more

It has been such an incredible joy walking with Jessica and Mark on their adoption journey. As a child, I anxiously looked forward to Christmas morning. I couldn’t wait to see what Santa had brought my sister and me. When I was six years old, I remember thinking I heard Santa’s reindeer on our roof. I excitedly ran into my sister’s room and jumped onto her bed and said, “Did you hear that?!” Playing along, my older sister said, “Yes!” The remainder of that conversation has drawn blank on me. But, I can still see two little girls giggling and smiling just thinking about what the next morning would bring. For many, the Christmas season exudes a sense of celebration, joy, excitement, aw ..read more
