Cocooning is another adoption buzz word, which describes a very intensive care season, in which the adoptive parents are not only the primary caregivers, but the only ones to hold, feed, change, touch, rock and play with the baby. In this season, adoptive parents greatly limit introducing new people (even family), and won’t be leaving...

Most of the families I connect with share that their adoption journey was primarily motivated by their faith in some way. Even if fertility played a factor in their journey to adoption, they felt that the Lord laid adoption on their hearts- sometimes years before- and this is an answer to the call of adoption....

Tis’ the season to be thankful, amirite? With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, there’s a part of me that has been eagerly waiting for this day to pass on through, a bit of turkey, a little bit of watching the Viking’s lose, a lot a bit of family and desserts, potentially watching people play games – fun...

In 2010, My husband and I had a clear desire to start our family through adoption. My husband was in seminary and we were working entry-level positions on a very small budget. We knew that funding an adoption could be challenging, but we were reminded of 1 Thessalonians 5:24: “He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” As a family on a budget, here’s a few things we learned:

I had the pleasure of walking Jeff and Shari through the adoption process! After 5 months of being active with agencies, they got a call they had been chosen to be the parents of a one-month-old baby boy. In less than 24 hours, they were holding their little one in their arms! Shari and Jeff, it was an honor to walk with your family on the journey that led you to your sweet boy! I am in awe of what God has done, and I can’t wait for others to read about it today! I know it will be an encouragement to so many others who are in a difficult season of waiting!
