Recently went to the farm to put out cams and check plot status. This plot, where I’ve been getting tons of action….bear, good bucks, lots of does…is hurting from weeds. I frost seeded clover. it’s there, but not thick, and they are proly eating the weeds too. But my plan before getting all the pics, was to sap it with gly and plant a fall plot. but if it dosent rain again until Oct like the last 2 years I’d hate to stop a good thing. i could always hit it w 2-4db, but my experience is... In some of the areas where we have opened up the canopy in our Ozark hunting ground, pin cherry saplings take over after 2 years. Looking for ideas on how to set them back other than fire. 1. I know that a growing season fire is great for taking care of hardwood saplings, but in these locations, it's not really an option for us. We've done burns in other areas and are familiar and comfortable with the process. For a variety of reasons, it is unlikely that we will be able to get a fire in... I usually get to mid or late summer and realize that I forgot to establish a mineral lick, and this past spring I was picking up some seed at the St. Peters CO-OP and grabbed a bag of Trophy Rock granular mineral. Normally I get virtually zero summer pics of bucks, rather I just get pics of a couple of groups of does that live in the area. This year has a been great so far. Could be a coincidence, but I dont think so. The first video has 5 bucks, one that leaves the frame as the video...
