America’s Immigration Police State:: Warrantless Trespasses, Searches, and Seizures
Future of Freedom Foundation

In yesterday’s blog post, I addressed one aspect of the immigration police state that is part of the enforcement of America’s socialist system of immigration controls — domestic highway checkpoints. I pointed out that such police-state checkpoints are a central feature of communist and totalitarian regimes. Another part of America’s immigration police state is warrantless trespasses and searches of farms and ranches along the U.S.-Mexico border. I’ll draw from personal experience to demonstrate this particular police-state destruction of liberty and privacy. I grew up on a farm on the Rio Gra ..read more

What If Russia Pulls a Hiroshima/Nagasaki on Kiev?
Future of Freedom Foundation

Today’s Los Angeles Times contains a letter to the editor from a North Hollywood person named Dave Simon, which states in part the following: “To this day, I have no regret that President Harry Truman saved many American lives as well of thousands of others all across the globe by ordering the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.” Simon’s sentiment has always been the popular justification for the U.S. atomic bombings of the people in those two Japanese cities. The idea has been that without the bombings, it would have been necessary for the U.S. to have invaded Japan to secure its defeat, whi ..read more

Our Biggest Threat
Future of Freedom Foundation
by Jacob G. Hornberger

Both liberals and conservatives are convinced that the biggest threat to our freedom and well-being lies with Russia and China. And, well, also the terrorists, Muslims, drug dealers, illegal immigrants, North Koreans, Cubans, Syrians, Vietnamese, communists, Reds, and others.  They are wrong. The biggest threat to our freedom and well-being is our very own federal government, especially the national-security branch of the federal government. The Framers clearly understood this. That’s why the Constitution strictly limited the powers of federal officials. Our American ancestors also clear ..read more

Immigration Socialism versus Open Borders
Future of Freedom Foundation

One of the most fascinating parts of the ongoing, never-ending debate over immigration is how statists continue to think that somehow their immigration-control system is finally — finally! — going to be made to work. Their hope is that someone somewhere will finally — finally! — come up with the perfect reform that will finally — finally! — make their system work.  It’s never going to happen. The sooner the American people accept that reality, the better off everyone will be because then we can adopt a system that not only works but is also consistent with the fundamental rights and libe ..read more

Confronting the JFK Assassination
Future of Freedom Foundation
by Jacob G. Hornberger

The ground seems to be shifting with respect to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Displaying little or no fear of either the national-security establishment or of being labeled a “conspiracy theorist,” an increasing number of people are now openly and publicly acknowledging what has increasingly become obvious: that the U.S. national-security establishment orchestrated and carried out Kennedy’s assassination as part of a national-security regime-change operation. This is a positive and healthy sign. Getting America back on the right track requires confronting this dark legacy of ..read more

Khrushchev Exposed the Hypocrisy of U.S. Interventionists

For American interventionists living today, all that one needs to know is that Russia invaded Ukraine. End of story. Black and white. Russia bad. Ukraine good. Support Ukraine with U.S. taxpayer-funded cash and armaments. America good. If we go back to the Cuban Missile Crisis, we find that things are not so simple, especially for American interventionists, even if they don’t realize it.  The Soviets had installed nuclear missiles in Cuba that had the capability of hitting U.S. cities along the Eastern seaboard, including Washington, D.C., and New York City. The crisis lasted from Octobe ..read more

Involuntary Servitude in Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S.
Future of Freedom Foundation

One of the interesting aspects of the Russia-Ukraine war is that the regimes in both countries have resorted to conscription to get soldiers to “serve their country.” One would think that if a war is just, citizens would not have to be forced to fight in it.  With conscription, the state commands a citizen to report to a military facility, where he is forced to become an employee of the state, at a wage set by the state. Even worse, his forced labor consists of killing people. Thus, conscription is really just a fancy form of military slavery because the citizen is being forced to provid ..read more

Immigration-Reform Nonsense and Delusion
Future of Freedom Foundation

With the expiration of Title 42, the pandemic-era policy of preventing foreigners from entering the United States to claim refugee status, America’s perpetual immigration crisis along the border is back in the news. Along with the crisis comes the popular refrain that we have heard for at least seven decades: “We need comprehensive immigration reform to bring an end to our ‘broken’ immigration system.” That decades-old refrain, however, is nothing more than nonsense and delusion. The reason is that, contrary to popular opinion, America’s immigration-control system is not “broken.” If it were ..read more

Yellen Is Wrong: The Debt Ceiling Presents No Constitutional Crisis
Future of Freedom Foundation
by Jacob G. Hornberger

A few days ago, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that adhering to the debt ceiling would produce a “constitutional crisis.” Her statement, however, reflects her lack of understanding of both fiscal and constitutional principles.  The debt ceiling is a law that has been duly enacted by Congress. No one, including Yellen, has ever suggested that the debt-ceiling law violates the Constitution.  Therefore, for Yellen to say that complying with a duly enacted constitutional law would provoke a “constitutional crisis,” well, that’s just plain silly.  What she is suggesting is t ..read more

Confronting and Dismantling the Federal Killing Machine
Future of Freedom Foundation
by Jacob G. Hornberger

In my blog post yesterday, I wrote that a necessary prerequisite to ending the massive violence that afflicts American society is dismantling the federal killing machine. By wreaking death, injury, suffering, and destruction on millions of people in foreign lands for the past several decades, the Pentagon and the CIA have triggered something inside off-kilter people here at home that has caused them to copy the federal killing sprees in foreign lands. But in order to reach the point of bringing an end to what Martin Luther King called “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world,” it is fi ..read more
