JZPThomas

2022 has been a year to say the least, it feels like it was January just 5 minutes ago. With the holiday season fast approaching that means lots of get togethers and a lot of foods that you may not normally eat. Instead of waiting until the new year to “get back on track” keep reading to learn how you can stay on track even during the holiday season. 1. Don’t Deprive Yourself I do not believe in deprivation. My approach has always been moderation over deprivation. What does this mean? It means that if you want to have a couple holiday cookies, eat them. What I have found from past experience i ..read more

4 Small Healthy Habits To Change Your Life
JZPThomas

This year I decided to take the approach of doing small things that lead me closer to my larger goals. I used to have a bad habit of trying to take on everything and doing too many things at one time which of course led to burnout. So instead of continuing to contribute to my own stress, I’ve started to incorporate small lifestyle changes and healthy habits to change my life and overall quality of life. At the start of each year everyone is offering health, fitness, and wellness advice. There is no shortage of do this, eat, this, do that which can become very overwhelming. So avoid the overwhe ..read more

4 Simple Tips to Improve Your Physical & Mental Wellness

The holidays have come and gone and most of us are back to our everyday routines. For many that means working hard to stick to the new year fitness routine, starting new jobs/business ventures, or planning for the year as a whole. For me it’s a little bit of all of the above which leads to a massive balancing act. As I look at my life and what works vs. what doesn’t work for me I’ve realized that making small steps toward a larger goal works best for me. Example, I have a goal to strengthen my core and tone my abs more. I’m not going to workout that area of my body to the point of exhaustion ..read more

Like so many of you, I spend many hours a day sitting at a desk, and because I run this blog I’m usually at a desk even after my regular workday ends. Since my body is sedentary for the bulk of the day I’ve had to find creative ways to stay healthy while having a desk job. While it definitely requires a little more effort and creativity, there are several ways you stay healthy at your desk job.   Be Prepared   Most office environments have loads of unhealthy snacks that can seem tempting when you feel hungry and want something quick. Instead of going for the sugary unhealthy snack, p ..read more

If you follow my blog and social pages you know that I had an open myomectomy in Mach of last year. I feel like I was super open with what I was going through due to my uterine fibroids as I was dealing with it, but post my open myomectomy I’ve kind of dropped the ball on sharing (I’m sorry). I honestly think that my surgery gave me the freedom to live my life the way I want and I’ve tried to be far removed from how sick I was.   You can read more about what I went through in this post A Long Overdue Life Update.    I know that so many women are still suffering with fibroid ..read more

Working Out Without A Gym

One thing we can all agree on is the fact that the pandemic completely changed our approaches to fitness. Prior to the pandemic, I was a complete gym rat. I went to the gym several times a week and I honestly felt like you couldn’t be fit working out without a gym. Boy has my opinion changed.   It has been almost 2 years since I’ve been working out without a gym So what does that mean? Guys, I have never been more fit in my entire life than I have been over the past almost 2 years. So what have I been doing you might ask? If you don’t know, I became a certified personal trainer during the ..read more

My Uterine Fibroid Journey, Things I Wish I Would Have Known

This is a sponsored collaboration with AbbVie. All opinions are my own and I have not taken Oriahnn to treat heavy menstrual bleeding associated with uterine fibroids.    If you’ve been here for a while, you know that I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids in 2018. At that time there was so much that I didn’t know. If you are not familiar with fibroids, you may be asking yourself what they are. Uterine fibroids are estrogen- and progesterone-dependent, non-cancerous tumors of the uterus – the most common type of benign tumor in women of reproductive age.   Now that we have that o ..read more

This post is sponsored by Neutrogena®, but all opinions are my own.  Ok ladies and gents, let’s chat sunscreen. Too many times I’ve heard people say things like we don’t need to use sunscreen because we have melanin. Well that my friend is wrong! All skin needs to be protected all year around no matter how light or dark. One of the best ways to take care of our skin and to preserve it is by protecting it (even on gloomy days). That is why I’ve added Neutrogena® Invisible Daily line as part of my suncare routine. It is dermatologist recommended and it has ginger to help improve radiance ..read more

A Long Overdue Life Update

It took me 3 years to find the courage to write this post. It’s raw, it’s personal, and slightly heartbreaking. But if I’m going to share my life I know that I have to share the not so pretty parts as well. If you follow me on Instagram, you see me share a lot about how living with fibroids has COMPLETELY changed my life in a negative way. I’ve gotten many dm’s with people asking questions like how did I know I had them etc. so I will attempt to address those questions here. The Heartbreak In 2017 I married my best friend. Life was great. We were living comfortably in our home with my daughter ..read more
