I told y’all not to get used to the regular posting – I just can’t get my stuff together in a timely manner these days.  And oy, did you see all those grammar and spelling errors in those last posts?  I totally did, but have zero plans to go back and fix them.  Lifestyles of the lazy, amiright? A couple Fridays ago, as is tradition, we went to the Greek Food Festival.  B and I have gone every year since we’ve been together (14 years and counting!), and have added Sheff into the mix.  It was wonderful as usual, and we left full and happy.  Afterwards, we headed ove ..read more

Ireland/UK Trip 2022: Part 3 – The Finale!

It’s been fun pretending to be someone who has their stuff together this week, but it wraps up today with the last recap from our trip.  So here goes! The train from Liverpool to London is about 3 hours, so there was much reading to be done on this trip.  The train pulled into Euston station around 1130-ish, and we got a cab to the hotel.  Again, super lucky that the room was ready so early.  I was just happy to be done lugging that suitcase around everywhere.  We were finally at a place longer than 24 hours, so we were able to get settled in.  It was Friday ..read more

I have to first start with how impressed with myself I am – getting these two posts up in a timely manner.  Not weeks after the trip ended, and not weeks in-between the two parts.  I’d say something cool, like, watch out world, Laura’s on a roll, but we all know that would be insane. Anyway – onto Liverpool we go! It was dead ass early when we got off the boat.  B flirted with the idea of lugging our ENORMOUS suitcases onto a public bus, but luckily, the brainier spouse won here, and we took a cab (kidding honey, love you).  By some miracle, our hotel actually had a room re ..read more

A Little Bit of Life Lately

Well, we did it.  Officially two weeks ago, we sent our kid off to second grade.  Congratulations to us for making it through summer break with zero deaths or major injuries.  We went to Meet the Teacher, where we found out that the three amigo best friends had all been split up into the three different classrooms, which upset Sheff just a bit, but he did have some other friends from first grade in his class with him. All smiles for the first day, though!  I will mourn the day when he doesn’t let me pick out his first day of school outfit anymore.  I love that he stil ..read more

NOLA: August 2022

I had one day of vacation left before it resets in September, so B and I decided to head to NOLA for a late birthday celebration.  B’s parents had said they would like Sheff for a weekend, so it all worked out perfectly!  We drove down to Montgomery on Thursday night and spent the night there, and got up bright and early to head down to our favorite city. We got down there way earlier than anticipated, so we messed with our schedule a bit.  Instead of Val’s for dinner, we went for lunch.  We had the most amazing queso and tacos – and their margs were so strong!  Then w ..read more

Lucky – Marissa Stapley // This was a fun, quick read.  A con artist, who learned everything from her dad, wins a 13 million dollar lottery, but can’t come forward because if she does, she’ll be arrested.  This one was super short and only took me about a day to read, but I definitely liked it. The Weather Girl – Rachel Lynn Solomon // I had dubbed this summer the summer of no-murder (spoiler:  I didn’t follow it), but Nadine recommended this one to me, and it was such a sweet little romance.  I loved the TV station atmosphere, and I loved how Russell was a norma ..read more

Stuff from the Past Week

Get ready for a lot of posts coming at you – and by a lot, maybe like two more after this for this week.  Back like the old days of blogging.  I did hang up two mini disco balls on my fan pull in my office, and when the light hits them, they make this really beautiful light display.  I’m glad I spent the $8.99 on them from Amazon. Anyway, the past week (or so) was really good.  On a Friday, we got to try a new pizza place downtown.  It’s nestled back on Morris Avenue – the old cobblestone street downtown – tucked inside the Market on Morris.  There is also a gelat ..read more

I meant to get this post up last week, but I don’t think I got any posts up last week.  It was a busy one followed by a fun weekend, so I’ll get to all that later on. This summer we signed Sheff up for Y summer day camp: besides him loving it, he got to sign up for a summer sport with no registration fee.  Since he was too young for 3×3 basketball, he picked soccer.  As has been our experience with Y sports, this one was also a big disorganized.  Our coach quit before she even coached a single game, but we were all kind of glad for it, because the coach that stepped in ..read more

A weekend in a listing of memories only: // Spending $140 at Publix in snacks and booze for the weekend, only to turn around and go out to lunch on Saturday. // Looking like robbers with a flashlight trying to turn the hot tub on. // Leftover chicken alfredo in the bed. // Spending a whole 45 minutes at the beach before it started raining and lightening and thundering. // Massive social anxiety from all the people at Pineapple Willy’s. // Extra shots in our daiquiris! // Flamingos dancing in the pool to Tomorrowland. // Marshmello!!! // Steel Magnolias, Titanic and all the dips. // Snapping a ..read more

This week has been a lot calmer than last week – hooray!  Sheff had his soccer game on Tuesday, that he did really well in: two saves and two goals.  He seems to have picked up on the game really quick. Plus, he’s just the cutest ever. Other than that, it’s been a lot of reading and show watching in bed.  Our power went off yesterday during the bad storms, so we lit some candles and ate dinner, and it was kind of nice.  It came back on, but the internet was down, so we all crammed into our bed and watched dog videos on Tik Tok.  So cool, I know. Anyway, here’s what’s ..read more
