People are often curious about where an artist finds inspiration for paintings. It's a rather common question I've written about before but, will take a different approach to answer. My Florida friends, and former GF in Floridia maybe surprised at the answer too. Whether your painting snow or a sandy beach it's pretty much the same thing! Paintings that make a great subject are ones that have a positive - negative type effect. It's because a sandy beach or snowy day are good examples of positive / negative work to make the best subject. I know that's a typical answer an artist would ..read more

It's hard to believe that Christmas is just a couple days away, so it seemed like a good idea to write my Christmas holiday blog. I enjoy going out for breakfast with family and getting that extra cup of coffee. At this point in my life, I like spending time with family and friends. Decorating and listening to holiday music or perhaps catching your favorite movie on TV. One of my latest watercolor paintings titled Country Holiday was a piece created from my imagination. Although here in this part of Pennsylvania we have lots of old barns. So, it's pretty easy to come up with a ..read more

It's time to write my new art blog for the fall and thanksgiving holiday season. It's amazing how our thoughts and habits re-adjust with the season. As I've gotten older, I think family time and friends are the most important to me. I appreciate the time together, and the festive holiday trimmings ago with it. Beautiful fall colors of the trees are quite a treat as an artist. That extra cup of coffee while out doing something and maybe seeing some whitetail deer is amazing. The surrounding Lancaster County area is full of wildlife and a great treat. In fact, my latest painting ..read more

I've been an artist all my life from a very young age of about 10 or 12.  Growing up in Central Pennsylvania I remember spending many hours drawing, sketching, and pastel painting. Infact I was one of those kids that my parents had to tell me to go out and play. As an adult art is part of my everyday life. So, it's no surprise that when I'm out working, I come across great subjects. My full-time career is that I'm a self-employed exterminator. One day while out working I got to meet a great Amish couple Rachel and Chris Stoltzfus. They grow and sell the best cut flowers I've ev ..read more

My New Art Blog: Creating Coastal Scenes

As an artist, I really do enjoy painting a wide variety of subjects like landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, florals and more. I remember drawing and pastel painting at the early age of ten years old. I would sit for hours and especially loved painting beach scenes. My Mom told me some years ago that she and Dad would take my brother and I to the shore ever since we were young. So, it's wonder that painting marine art and coastal subjects has become a passion of mine. I always love being on the coast or near water to relax which I think is a great way to rejuvenate. It's become part of my D ..read more

It's been too long since I wrote my last blog infact six months to be exact. So I thought the theme Christmas in July would be the perfect opportunity to write a new blog.  I recall years ago a famous well known artist friend of mine writing in article. It was about reworking paintings and his thoughts which basically the artist felt that it was rather the kiss of death. Sometimes you don't want to rework a watercolor painting but, I'm not sure I completely agree with his opinion and that's okay. There are certainly times when you don't want to go back over a watercolor painting then aga ..read more

The holidays can be a fun festive colorful time of year but, it can also be a time when people worry and get stressed out because of everything there is to do.  I was brought up in the church and my dad was a minister. So, for me it was always a time to really Enjoy people family and friends. I remember when I was about 10 or 12 years old one of the best gifts, I got for Christmas one year was art supplies! My dad along with the help of my Uncle Andy Moore who was a professional artist selected some awesome art stuff! That really set the wheels in motion and got me started to w ..read more

I'm going to try to get into the habit of writing my blog again at least once a month. As an artist I find people are curious about inspiration and creativity. My artistic journey started at the age of 10 when I would spend many hours Sketching and drawing anything that came to mind. As I've grown older and more refined in my skills, I still like to spend time drawing. I could be out anywhere, and I'll still try to have supplies with me so that I can draw in sketch. I've also done playing air painting which is a lot of fun especially when I was up on the coast of Maine. I've always ..read more

It's a nice sunny Sunday at the time I'm writing this, so it felt like the perfect time to write a new blog! I always try to be optimistic and positive whenever possible. I think one of the things Covid-19 has done is that it's really promoted the use of more Zoom and online events. I'm a member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and the 2022 online Members Show is now open! Which means two of my latest watercolor paintings are entered in it. The two paintings I entered are Cascade lights and Winter's Soft Glow. What surprised me is how great they look side by side together too ..read more
