My fiance and I (both early 30s) are getting married this year (YEYY). We both make around the same (totals at around 200k/y) and we would like to start to structure our expenses and set budgets. At the moment we have a Shared account aswell as a Shared saving account where we put a fixed amount each month to cover our Shared expenses /save Money for pur wedding (After the Wedding it will be just for saving). Other than that, each of us pays for personal expenses (like krankenkasse, handy, fines etc.) with their own bank account. We still are not sure if we are going to have kids at all. How ..read more

Why do hotels in Basel become 3-3.5 times more expensive in June? What's the catch? Are there any holidays being celebrated or is it during this period that crowds of tourists and hotels decide to rip people off their pants? ?

I'm 56 and I was surprised that prevention exams are not covered by the Helsana basic insurance. As I'm ageing I'd like regular yearly check ups, blood test, skin, heart, colon, prostate etc. Each one will cost a fortune, and it seems they are not covered by the regular insurance. I.e. Blood test will not be covered if I'm not sick.
I wonder if Helsana Completa it's worth the extra premium, almost 65/month or not.
Any experience with that? will I get the prevention exams I want or it will be up to the doctor?

Grüezi! Im looking for inspiration for rather easy accesible (train/plane) destinations from Zürich/ZRH (and BSL) that are worth a trip over the weekend. I dont mind traveling a few hours (3-4 max, not including the way to the airport/Zürich HB) as long as:
Departure not before 5 pm on friday, return on sunday evening.
Rountrip CHF 100-150.00 as a generall rule of thumb if booked a few weeks in advance and not during a peak travel weekend.
The place should be some size at least, best case it has something lika a hostel/simple hotel and of course something to see and/or do.

Who have installed air conditioning for themselves in switzerland, whats the prices and how long did you wait before installation? In Aargau they send me an offer:
(9000btu panasonic) 2 indoor units and 1 outside unit)
for around 13k they told that the price depend on final pipes lengh after finishing project (they asked for 1 core drilling 750chf) also i think waiting time is too long- they said around 1 and half month or faster if someone cancels.

I am a Swiss resident and citizen in Vaud. I recently got a temporary position at an international boarding school here. They asked me for this and say I need to give it to them. I have no idea what it is. Google doesn’t either. Any help?

Hi We have a Situation we never faced before. Someone called me today and claims that we have scratched his car when he parked beside us . He got my car number, my phone number and address He claims he received the details from road transport office . Are they allowed to share personal information to strangers? Ok but the main question is what should I do in this situation. Frankly speaking we didn’t do anything to his car. He is calling me after 5 days of that parking day. What are my rights? Can I call the transport office and ask how can they share my personal details? What is the worst ca ..read more

My passport carries my maiden name, and I plan to purchase flight tickets to Japan using this maiden name.Additionally, my permit displays my maiden name too with my new name after marriage on the back of the permit as I can’t update my permit unless I update my passport anyway. Do you believe I can still go outside of Switzerland freely or apply for Japan visa using my marriage certificate as additional document in case they wonder why haven’t I updated, or is it necessary for me to update my passport and my visa?

I'm a non-EU resident considering studying in Switzerland, but I'm unsure about my job prospects post-graduation. Can non-EU graduates from Swiss universities find employment opportunities in Switzerland, or is it challenging to secure work visas? I'd appreciate insights or experiences from fellow non-EU graduates who have navigated the Swiss job market.
