[Trailer] SPEAK NO EVIL Will Have You Second-Guessing Who You Talk To While On Vacation

This one was not on my radar but anything putting the expertly creepy James McAvoy in a situation where he can let that freak flag fly certainly warrants immediate attention once it appears. Hitting theaters on Sept. 13th from Blumhouse and Universal Pictures is SPEAK NO EVIL, a vacation from hell pic that looks more than a little unhinged. Check out the just-released trailer. It says this is the second trailer – I guess I missed the first one but – this one got my attention. Sure, with almost 40 films to his credit, he’s had more misses than hits, but when he hits Deep Blue Sea, Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2, and The Long Kiss Goodnight, does anyone remember Mindhunters? He’s even directed an ANOES flick – he’s got some horror cred – and I like the way he shoots a film so when word dropped he was taking the reigns of a new take on THE STRANGERS – I was in. I honestly don’t remember much ..read more

[Blu-ray Review] ABIGAIL – The Vampire Tale Pirouettes Onto Home Video

I am so glad I saw this theatrical release from earlier this year on home video. I checked it out during that theatrical run and honestly left underwhelmed, but, as sometimes happens, outside forces were affecting the viewing. As I’ve aged I have found the theater experience as a whole very unappealing at times – the phones, the people who bring their toddler or younger children, folks who have forgotten how to use their indoor voices – I know you all know what I’m talking about – and sometimes those outside forces end up taking you out of the film and ultimately can effect ones opinion of a m ..read more
