I completed an upgrade to make my life easier

I recently decided to upgrade my bathroom to make life a little easier. I decided having laundry on the main floor was the way to go, so, it got a mini-revamp. Fifteen years ago, I renovated this bathroom and added classic white subway tiles and a cool brick wall. We also splurged on a large soaking tub – a dream come true! Now, 15 years later, I kept the timeless elements like the tiles, tub, and toilet. But I swapped out the old vanity for a smaller one in a new location, added some extra storage, and finally brought the laundry upstairs! I've included photos of the bathroom's journey: the o ..read more

When my client approached me and said she needed to redo two of her bathrooms, I was thrilled to be working with her again. I already helped her with other areas of her home, including her ensuite about 4 years ago, so I knew I had a client that was open to amazing details and practical design. Enjoy the before and after photos of her upstairs bathroom here. I will share a separate blog post about her second bathroom once that project is complete. before the shopping process decisions made during during before after ..read more

Holiday cheer without big expense
Toronto Designers Blog

Every holiday season, many of us find ourselves shopping for the perfect gifts for our loved ones. For some, the challenge lies in finding the exact things everyone wants. For others, it's the expense, which can get pricey, especially when there isn't enough time to shop around for deals. Why not simplify this holiday season by giving everyone the same gift? I know, it sounds unconventional. But consider this: a personalized photo frame. Choose a favorite photo of that person, perhaps one of you together, and have it printed as a small 4x6 or 5x7. Then buy the same simple frame for everyone th ..read more

Good Enough

What is it about design and those TV shows that make every little detail seem so important? I mean, details do matter, but when most people aren't designers or don't care much about them, why fuss? Why not just say, "It's good enough for me"? Isn't it most important that the person living in the space is happiest? I love what I do, and I'm always happy to help with every last detail of a space, especially the practical ones. But when a client wants a plan from me and then wants to handle it on their own, I'm thrilled too! I do always want to see where the space lands. And whether I approve or ..read more

This updated kitchen happened back in 2020, just before the Covid shut-down. It came to a complete halt before becoming a snail’s pace in finishing things up. It was a long haul, but many months later, all the finishing touches were put into place. It is only now, four years later, that I am finally privy to some amazing photos as my clients are moving and these are the online staging photos. (I did see their new home and their new kitchen is already done and gorgeous - I’m so happy for them!) Enjoy these before, during, and afters of their home. At least someone else will be able to enjoy the ..read more

My kitchen through the years
Toronto Designers Blog

I have lived in my 1958 home for over 28 years, and be it as it may in my field, I have made changes to my kitchen. Many times! My most recent one takes me back to an all white kitchen, and I think I am always happiest when things are the ‘colour’ white in my world. The dark green kitchen lasted a whole 3 weeks! The red maybe a year? The black kitchen (not a colour so it was OK in my mind), lasted a few years. I have changed the backsplash just twice, and the counters just once to the black soapstone from the original laminate. The cabinets are from the original remodel when we first moved in ..read more
