The Washington Nationals moved into third place in the NL East on Sunday, overcoming a 6-1 deficit to beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 11-8, taking the weekend series in the process. Eddie Rosario, who has been struggling mightily all season, blasted a two-run homer in the seventh inning to break an 8-all tie and put the Nats ahead to stay. The Baltimore Orioles went into Cincinnati and left a broomstick as they swept the Reds in a three-game series this weekend. The O’s are now riding a four-game win streak into their next series against the Washington Nationals. Baltimore has the best record in MLB at 23-11. The O’s starters dominated this series. It was another great week for the Baltimore Orioles as they dominated their division foe, the New York Yankees, before heading into Cincinnati to sweep the Reds. The O’s now sit alone atop the AL East, with a 1-game lead over the aforementioned Yankees. The birds started the week by taking 3 of 4 against the Yankees in the first meeting of these two AL powerhouses. The AAA Norfolk Tides pitched their first no-hitter in their Orioles affiliate history on May 3rd versus the Nashville Sounds. They ended up beating the Sounds 2-0 to win their seventh game in a row and get their record (16-15) above .500.  Chayce McDermott started the game, getting through six perfect innings. He was removed after walking two, but not before pitching 11 strikeouts and making it through 6 ⅔ innings total. He threw 96 pitches, 61 of which were strikes, and brought his ERA to 2.89. The Norfolk Tides, AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, were well represented in April’s AAA awards. Heston Kjerstad and Cade Povich both took home AAA’s International League Player and Pitcher of the Month titles, respectively. Tides’ first baseman/outfielder Heston Kjerstad recorded impressive hitting statistics throughout April. He batted .324/.420/.770, leading the league in home runs (10), RBIs (26), and slugging percentage (.770). It was a spectacular first full month of the season for the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s went 17-9 in the month of April, powered by an amazing offense. Baltimore was #1 in home runs, 4th in hits, 3rd in RBIs, and 5th in OPS. There were multiple stars throughout the month, but two young guys stole the show. Gunnar Henderson won AL Player of the Month for April. Henderson hit .280 with 30 hits, nine homers, 20 RBIs and 22 runs scored in 26 games. The Baltimore Orioles are back on top of the AL East after a series win against division rival New York Yankees. The O’s won three out of four to claim the series with a statement win in game four 7-2. The O’s now firmly hold on to first place in the AL East with the best home record in the division at 12-7. The AAA Norfolk Tides won their fifth game in a row on May 1st, after struggling throughout April. The Tides went 11-14 compared to a 19-7 record in 2023. The Tides went through a 10-game losing streak in the middle of April, but were able to battle back to end the month with a winning streak, bringing their current record to almost .500, at 14-15.  On May 1st, they beat the Nashville Sounds 7-3, starting off the month in a promising way. The Baltimore Orioles pitching staff is already battered and bruised. For starters, closer Felix Bautista will not pitch this season after Tommy John surgery. Cionel Perez and Tyler Wells have had or are currently on the injured list after suffering minor injuries as well. The team has played well after losing closer Craig Kimbrel to back soreness, but today was the icing on the cake.
