Hi there, I'm Annebeth! I've been using this little blog to share my love for style, beauty and travel since 2010. I'm currently finishing a PhD in communication studies, and I'm also pretty passionate about feminism and popular culture.

Hi dolls!
I'm checking in with you on a grey, chilly Friday at the end of September, but just three weeks ago I was living the life over in sunny (incredibly hot) Italy. I figured I'd post some of my favorite travel memories of this year's big trip, because it's always nice to share beautiful moments with others. I'm doing this the quick & dirty way instead of spending too much time layouting or thinking about what to write, so buckle up and enjoy the ride babes.
We've been to Italy four times now - once to Puglia, once on the Tuscan coast, once in the heart of Tuscany near Siena and ..read more

Hi babes! It's been a while, but I enjoy dropping in from time to time for a little update. As I'm writing this, the sun is blazing and we have another couple of hot days ahead. Summer 2022 has been pretty great where Belgian weather is concerned, reminiscent of those totally crazy days of the first lockdown in 2020 when we basically lived in our backyard. The climate just keeps getting hotter and global warming becomes more and more apparent, sadly.
Of course the sunny days also have their positive sides - barbeque parties with our lovely new neighbors, floating in the kiddy pool, long lat ..read more

Hi babes! You're in for a treat: I'm taking this stormy February night to write an unexpected quick new blog post. The inspiration? A fun makeup trend I've picked up from all the Korean dating shows I've been watching lately.
Seriously though, Singles Inferno (Netflix) is SO wholesome, entertaining and stylish, and a completely refreshing watch in all the ways it differs from our typical Western reality TV. Not just the fact that contestants don't even kiss during the whole run of the show (so many longing glances though), but also how different their beauty trends are from ours. One t ..read more

Hi babes! It's been a while, right? Maybe just for clarification, for anyone who still reads here: don't expect me to regularly post updates (in case you did). I'm in this very mixed feelings, love-hate relationship with the whole social media content creation business right now, and that might not change anywhere in the future. Not that I regret my time as an outfit blogger - especially with twee style having its little renaissance over on TikTok. I just don't feel the need to be so visible and present online all the time. But popping in whenever the mood strikes - now that's something I ca ..read more

As we're counting down the days to our 2021 holiday (Lombardia - Veneto - Tuscany roadtrip here we come), I figured I might as well blog about last year's trip. Also Tuscany, but the side people don't seem to visit that often - or at least they don't tell me about it. The coast!
In August 2020 we were preparing to drive down to the Côte d'Azur to the apartment we'd rented a couple of times before, feeling like a familiar place would be the best option during covid. But then Alpes-Maritimes turned into a red zone three days before we were supposed to leave and that left me with the task of ha ..read more

I haven't been in the mood for content creation lately - one of our cats has been missing for two weeks now and it's really weighing on us. But I've found that distracting myself is a necessity right now, as a form of self-care, so here I am writing a blog post about a skill I've picked up during lockdown that gives me joy: a DIY gel manicure.
I've always liked getting creative with my nails, but I also go through long periods of time where I really can't be bothered because I'm annoyed by the process of carefully doing them only to have them chip/wear down too quickly - sometimes even the sa ..read more

What's this, another blog post and it hasn't been months since my last?? Well, I had some cute stuff to share after all of my more heavy-handed writings as of late, so let's get into something light hearted!
Over the past two years, I have FINALLY gotten into home decor. I don't want to repeat myself, but I have written before about how going from my childhood home straight to my then-boyfriend now-fiancé's home at 19 made it difficult to create a space of my own. I never had the financial means, the cohesive aesthetic vision or the assertiveness to do so. But room by room I've gotten ..read more

Life works in mysterious ways - it's a cliché as big as the sea is wide, but it's the truth. It's been three months since my last blog post, where I told you about my experiences of pursuing a PhD - the good, the bad and the ugly. I shared a bit about how my self esteem has faltered over the past few years, also linked to working in academia. In that article, as in an earlier piece, I wrote about the impact that getting laid off at my first job after finishing my PhD had on me. I clearly had a lot to unburden. And looking back, I feel like that blog post was actually part of a pivotal ..read more

To say I had not expected so many positive reactions to my first real blog post in about a year would be an understatement. But it was just the positive reinforcement I needed to actually take this seriously again. I want to start putting more effort into the things that give me joy, instead of just zoning out after another taxing day of working from home. Intentionally putting more balance into my days, even if it's not the path of least resistance.
Another thing that has kept me from blogging, or from searching for a bit of "depth" in my social media musings, is that my self co ..read more

Life has been a lot, man. I'm writing this in january, 2021, after a year and a half of getting dangerously close to a burnout, getting stuck in covid lockdown after lockdown, getting therapy, evolving as a person, setting new priorities, losing bits of myself and finding new ones. We've come a long way since I blogged daily, but I'm not at the point where I want to fully abandon this blog, this online diary of mine that I've kept for over ten years. It has been a creative outlet when I hated my job, a place to connect with like minded spirits, a way for me to hone my skills and challenge my ..read more
