This will likely be my last post of the year. Thank you all for your support this year.  My Top 10 of the year  Without a doubt, the achievement of the year goes to being awarded the Pandemic Recovery Grant from Mass Cultural Council. Due to their support I was able to continue this wild and colorful adventure.  The Southbridge Cultural Council funded Fabulous and Functional Embroidery for Mending, a class at the Jacob Edwards Library in Southbridge, MA.  Southbridge Community Television not only filmed the class, but also interviewed me, resulting in a wonderful You ..read more

In November, my work started to be available at the Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness. What a great place to have my art. Our shared values of art, sustainability through creative reuse, and handmade makes it a great fit for me. Not only that but just walking in the door is like being transported by the aromas in their refillery. Never heard of a refillery? If you ever wanted to be able to rid yourself of the plastic that comes with most purchases of household and personal products this is for you. Just bring your own container, weigh it, fill it and weigh it again. You will be charged for ..read more

Happy November! Things are rapidly approaching 2024. All my summer routines have been disrupted and new habits are emerging as the weather cools.  First of all, the Charlton Farmer’s Market has decided to continue the fun and host a winter market from November 1st until December 20th (with the exception of Thanksgiving week.) Wednesdays from 4 - 7 in the Charlton, MA Grange #92. We are there with new stock and a festive turn for this season. At the Winter Market, I have been thinking about packaging/gift wrapping. To encourage less waste in gift wrapping, I am offering a number of optio ..read more

Pumpkin Season

The color orange seems to rule in October - pumpkins, candy corn, and leaves on the maple trees. Wherever I drive I see jack-o-lanterns. I love the sight of a stone fence topped with tiny pumpkins or a porch with a host of glowing pumpkin faces. Our farmer’s markets have both ended for the season. Looking forward to the spring when they start up again. I will be teaching a class “Origami Boxes” on November 17th, 6 - 8 pm at the Gypsy Rose Florist at 250 Main Street Oxford, MA. Folding these boxes is fun on its own, but as we are heading towards the gift-giving season, these boxes might serve ..read more

https://arnoldgrummerpapermaking.blogspot.com/2018/08/from-fabric-to-paper-card-holder.html   Paper Card Holder Today on the Arnold Grummer Papermaking blog are my directions for making a card holder to coordinate with a bag I created for Gwen Lafleur’s Artist Tribe. After adding leftover fabric and thread into the hand made paper, it was turned into a business card holder so I’d be ready when people asked me where I got my bag!  ..read more

Stenciling on fabric!  If you have been following my Instagram feed you will know about the piece of fabric that my sister and I have been passing back and forth between us for decades. This fabric was bought at a dollar a yard shop when I was in college. Back then, if it was cotton I bought it.  The problem with using up this fabric is that 1.) I did not have any project in mind when I bought it. When I don’t what I am going to use a piece of fabric for I tend to buy a lot. 2.) The pattern is not the easiest to use in just any project. 3.) The pattern is not centered to grain. If yo ..read more

Traditional vs. Bohemian Reversible Pincushion

When Gwen came out with her new line of stencils I immediately fell in love with the Boho Circle Collection. I chose the Boho Star Circle Stencil. I immediately thought of making a pincushion. The pattern lent itself to the project and I discovered I needed a new pincushion. As they say, “necessity is the mother of invention.” While the intention was to use different colors, the blue against the white was so classic it overcame. The pincushion is made from a white piece of fabric. The stencil was transferred to the cloth using DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Paint in Neon Blue. The paint lef ..read more

Slow Stitched Boho Bracelet

It all started with this: A box of sari scraps from Gwen Lafleur. So beautiful. I have hoarded them for a while now, playing with them, mix and matching them. So beautiful that I was loath to cut them up and use them. I have long been wanting to make a cuff from them. Actually, I had several other pieces in mind, but I still can’t bring myself to cut those, so I used a piece I love,  but felt ok about using. Materials: Irresistible India Embellished Sari scraps quilt batting (I used organic cotton that I had leftover from a project over 10 years ago) needle thread Sari ribbon fr ..read more
