Are you in the mood for something cosy today? If so, activate your "do not disturb" - this Swedish country home is as 'mysigt' as can be!
Emilia Nilsson lives with her family in a characterful early 20th century house with "worn wood floors and lots of laughter" in the Småland, countryside in south Sweden.
Done up little by little, the house oozes charm from every corner with its beautiful selection of wallpaper, traditional earthy tones and simple array of natural materials. But best of all, the relaxed home is designed to be lived in - and a space where children can play freely ..read more

Woah, this week has gone fast, don't you think? I thought it would be fun to wrap up with a fascinating little Swedish apartment that's filled with quirky touches and lovely ideas for the weekend - what do you reckon?
Formerly a milk shop, the 28 metres square (301 square feet) ground floor living space in Stockholm is made up of a kitchen, bathroom and one room that combines the hallway, sitting room and bedroom. While the overall look is earthy and calm, there are some fun details - like a blue door and stripes and other touches that bring a contemporary vibe to the space.

Hands up who has always dreamed of living in a little cottage by the sea? Surely most of us - especially after a tough day of work! I can confess that I've spent the best part of this morning wondering if my little family and I can move to Jönköping - 3 hours from here. I don't think they'll be too happy - but it doesn't stop me dreaming.
This charming little yellow and white cottage in Bymarken was built in 1870 and has recently been put on the market. Built on a hill, it's a topsy turvy home - with the entran ..read more

Well, well, well - if it's not what Swedes call 'Lillördag' (little Saturday). Which means friends, we've earned the right to take a mid-week breather, poor ourselves a coffee, out up our feet and some Scandinavian interior inspiration!
Emma lives in a house in a little village called Hjo on the West coast of Vättern, Sweden's second largest lake (seventh largest in Europe). Every room is a sea of warm earthy neutral shades pepped with in-season flowers from Emma's own garden and candles to bring in warmth. I also love to see a glass of wine or cup of tea, and a slice of homemade pizza ..read more

Why, hej there! Buckle up friends as I am taking you on a My Scandinavian Home all time first virtual trip to the Faroe Islands today! The Faroes is an archipelago in the North Atlantic ocean and an autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark. Known for its dramatic volcanoes and striking nature, the Faroe Islands are somewhere I've always wanted to visit but sadly never been.
Lív Patursson lives in the Faroe Islands with her young family and I'm excited to welcome you through the doors of her Scandinavian modern home. Cosy, relaxed and full of life, the home is laid out over three ..read more

Tjena! Today we're heading to the Swedish countryside to dream of a simple life. One which involves a beautiful country home, a separate ceramics workshop and even an antique and homeware shop with a cafe selling delicious cinnamon buns and fresh coffee.
Välkommen to the home of Amanda Forster who lives in the countryside near Jönköping with her family and their delightful dog. Amanda shares her passion for decorating, flea market finds and ceramics while surrounded by sheep, hens and a beautiful garden on her instagram feed @ladanskuriosa. What vintage finds Amanda doesn't choose ..read more

Every now and again a home really leaps out at me, and this is one of them. Organic, mature and calm, the one room studio apartment is a perfect oasis in the heart of Swede's capital - and even has a cosy balcony full of Autumn blooms on which to enjoy a morning coffee.
A mix of grainy woods, earthy 'unpolished' walls, coarse linen - the apartment might be void of bright colour, but it more than makes up for it in rich textures, all of which help the space to come alive.
Keep an eye out for items that help to add the 'hygge' (cosiness) - such as a Sjöstrand espresso maker ..read more

As we near the end of September, there's an Autumn crispness to the air and woolly jumpers are just around the corner. In her lovely Swedish country home, Frida Sömskar has welcomed the season with DIY touches - including an apple garland here and a pumpkin display there, giving her home a warm and cosy touch.
But that's not the only reason I have fallen in love with her home. When Frida and her family first discovered it, they were told to knock it down and start afresh, but instead they decided to work with the beautiful old bones it had and give the wreck a new lease of life - doing ..read more

I try to show a variation of properties from Scandinavia, so you get a true representation of the region. And today, I was keen to share a traditional 'skånegård'. The farms are found in the southern Swedish county of Scania, where I live and are instantly recognised by their quadrangle shape.
While there are some exceptions (like beautiful Kullaberg), Scania is incredibly flat and its fertile lands are ideal for farming. But flat land also means there is nothing to prevent the wind from whistling across the fields - and while a light breeze on a summer's day might feel welcomed, bone ..read more

Can you guess what this building used to be by looking at the pictures? The clue is in the high ceilings, large windows and abundance of light. Although, I have to say that doesn't necessarily narrow it down. This is an old school built in the 1950s with a funkis (functionalist) design - the character of which still shines through!
The only studying that is done here today is in the cosy light-filled study beside the kitchen or at the desk in the children's room, since today it serves as a wonderful family home! The architecture combined with rich earthy tones and abundance of wood and ..read more
