Bogong High Plains Road Temporary Closure Please be advised that given the severe weather event that is forecast, Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) has made the decision to temporarily close the Bogong High Plains Road from 9pm Sunday 7th of January 2024. The road closure will be in place from Mt Beauty to Falls Creek, specifically from Cranky Charlie Corner to Howman's Gap. You might have heard there has been a landslide on the road between Falls Creek and Mount Beauty, causing a whole lot of challenges for our community. We’ve put together this information to inform and update the larger community about how it’s all going. What has happened?A landslide occurred on the Bogong High Plains Rd above Bogong Village in early October. The 35 000 cubic metre mass of earth above the road still remains loose and unstable and is continuing to slowly fall, making it unsafe for the road to be open. Falls Creek Resort has received 36cm of fresh snow over the weekend from this one storm, and the conditions are amazing. With so much terrain open, fresh stashes of snow can still be found all over the mountain even though everyone has been out and enjoying the slopes. From Friday through to today we have had snow falling all the way below the village. We have been waking up to snowgums covered in white and a magical ski-in ski-out village.
