I have a set of actions I need to take EVERY working day at my current job and it involves the use of Power BI/Excel. It's a fairly simple routine but I was just wondering if theres SOME way around it to make it happen automatically. Here's what I do: Go to my company's Position Report online. It's a power BI interactive report. Save this report by downloading, Filename changed to = "Report DDMMYY" https://preview.redd.it/4dkzvxvlpcvc1.png?width=251&format=png&auto=webp&s=3a9c7d20017fc3d34439a31131820227ed7871e9 3) Open the report found in the "Reports" folder where I keep a ..read more

Hi, I wanted to do the Microsoft Learn Power BI course for the PL-300 (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/courses/pl-300t00) but when I start to get into the module Get Data in Power BI they ask for importing some datasets (in the subpart "Get Data from files") that are not present to download on the page, do you know where can I get this dataset ? 2nd questions : on the next step they ask to connect to some Microsoft SQL Server but nothing seems available, do you know any other course that is more practical and really help to get your hands on PowerBI ? Thanks for the info submitted ..read more

Showing values when not present in data source

Hello everyone, I have a request to display courses taken by different companies; I already have a calculated column that displays the name of the course and the date first taken. The request specifies that all the courses must be listed, if no one in the company has taken the course, it should show as incomplete. I created an additional table with all the courses available. The issue I encountered is the following: the data source provided only lists the courses taken, if I use the table I created, it filters out the missing values and only shows the courses listed in the "Courses Taken" rep ..read more

Copying visualizations out of PowerBI - no way to format?

My team needs a lot of data for use in various assets/products (presentations, educational material, reports, etc.) I've set up a PowerBI report for them that provides all this data in one place, but they'd like more functionality to copy visualizations and format them to match the style of whatever they are working on. It seems to me like the end users of a PowerBI report have very limited options to format the visualizations, since everything is copied as an image. Am I missing something obvious here? submitted by /u/RudeJelly [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How is the job market right now?

I have near 7 years of experience, now being a lead analyst. Certs, tableau, pbi, SQL, R and many more in my resume, yet I have not received one interview invite from 20+ jobs I applied for. Is o6t me? Is it senior positions are harder to get? Is it Canada? I am feeling underwhelmed. I tried applying for manager/senior positions, but absolute silence. It feels like when I was fresh out of college. submitted by /u/the1whozusernamed [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Am I on the right track?

New to data modeling. Have to break a giant spreadsheet into smaller tables before creating dashboards. Am I at least on the right track? I know it’s not much to go off of. My first attempt at a model was all messed up with too many fact tables and not enough dimensions. I think I fleshed it out more and I think the relationships are more correct. The data seems to show correctly when making visuals. I appreciate any advice or feedback. submitted by /u/justin7465 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How can I unpivot a table in Power Query or DAX in this manner?

Would you guys help me unpivot a table in this way??? I couldn't find a way to do that in Power Bi or Power Query. The reason for this is to organize the matrix with all categories instead of having them scattered. https://preview.redd.it/sbhvnwe92cvc1.png?width=712&format=png&auto=webp&s=f183088041269a7252bfe4b93c246ad511489716 submitted by /u/Fluid_Magician4728 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi, in my company we are evaluating to switch from tableau to powerBI due to the cost, however in tableau we have tableau server, where users can only access to dashboards as viewers, allows me as a data analyst to create a dashboard and share it with anyone in the company that has access to the server and also keep the data updated by storing the data sources in the server, my question is, is there anything like this but for powerBI? submitted by /u/AvalStef [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
