Square Enix has made a fairly bold announcement to its investors overnight, revealing that it’s chosen to take a ¥22.1 billion (almost $220 million AUD) hit in what it’s calling “content abandonment losses” that will be reflected in its books for the financial year ending March 2024. When Fallout 4’s fresh PS5 and Xbox Series X|S update arrived last week, those who had acquired the game on PS5 via a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription were left momentarily confused about not being able to upgrade their versions of the game for free. After a bit of a wait, Ubisoft has finally announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s iOS port will be launching on June 6th, 2024, giving owners of iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad Air and iPad Pro (with M1 chip or later) the chance to play last year’s big entry on their devices. Xbox has revealed the date and time for its big Xbox Games Showcase this June, and like last year’s stint with the Starfield Direct it’s another double feature. The showcase kicks off on June 10th at 3AM AEST, and will feature games from across Xbox’s swelling portfolio of studios including Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and of course its Xbox Game Studios, along with titles from third-party partners. Update 01/05: As we could have reasonably predicted after the initial teases rolled out, a Returnal graphic novel from publisher Dark Horse Comics has been revealed to celebrate three years since the game’s release, along with a new artbook. The graphic novel is titled Returnal: Fallen Asteria and will release on October 22nd, along with the 224-page oversized book named The Art of Returnal on the same day.
