Trinity Morris- Narraguagus- softball- – had three hits, three RBI, and two runs scored in 15-0 win over Woodland.
Jayden Sullivan- Ellsworth- softball- had three hits, walked once, and had three RBI in 9-8 win over Bucksport.
Taylor Clark- Bangor- softball- went 4-4 with a three runs homer and four RBI in 11-7 loss to Lewiston.

Lauren Veino struck out 17 in a 4-2 win over Woodland in a pitchers duel at Baileyville. Veino allowed two unearned runs on four hits and two walks. Brooke Smith also pitched a gem for the Dragons. Smith allowed four runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks, while striking out 19.

TURNER, Maine – On National Student-Athlete Day, Noah Carpenter (Greene, Maine), a senior on the Leavitt High School football and baseball team hosted a Youth Sports Day at Tripp Middle School in Turner. As part of the event, Carpenter made a $1,000 donation to the Greene Youth Athletic Association, helped raise $370 and donated more than 100 pounds of food to the Turner Community Food Bank. The free event included a food drive, autographs, raffles and games with the future Maine Black Bear who will play football and baseball in Orono.

Portland, Maine– The Portland Sea Dogs have rescheduled the games against the Hartford Yard Goats from the April 5th and April 6th postponements. Doubleheaders are now slated for Tuesday, May 21st at 6:00 PM and Friday, May 24th at 4:30 PM.
Each doubleheader will be a single-admission consisting of two seven-inning games with approximately 30 minutes between games. Tickets dated May 21st and May 24th are good for both games on the respective day. The Tuesday, May 21st game will start at 6:00 PM, gates will open at 4:30 PM. Since Maine High School Basketball shifted from 4 classes to 5 prior to the 2015-’16 season, I have been a strong advocate for the return to 4 classes. Here is a letter I have sent to the Maine Principals’ Association stating my rationale:

During a Brewer High School committee meeting on Monday night, Superintendent of Schools Gregg Palmer announced that Fred Lower has been chosen as the new head football coach for the Witches.
Lower has an extensive football background that includes coaching stints with Bangor High, Husson University, and Hampden Academy. Lower takes over for Scott Flagg, who had resigned his position on March 6.

AUGUSTA- Sammy Calder had a team-high 15 points, including a go ahead basket with 2:00 left in the fourth quarter on Saturday night in leading the Monmouth Academy Mustangs to a 52-50 win over Mt. View in the Class C Boys Basketball State Championship game at the Augusta Civic Center. It is the first goldball for Monmouth, in their first ever appearance in a boys basketball state game.

AUGUSTA- Cally Gudroe, Mazie Peach, and Hannah Dean all scored in double figures on Saturday night, leading the Dexter Tigers to their first Class C Girls Basketball State Championship in 18 years with a 48-41 win over Hall-Dale at the Augusta Civic Center.
The first eight minutes both teams held a lead, and it ended as a draw 13-13. Dean and Peach each poured in six points in the first quarter for Dexter. Jade Graham had five of the 13 for Hall-Dale.
