White Pocket is an isolated and notoriously hard-to-reach patch of featureless, bleached-white sandstone inside Vermillion Cliffs National Monument near the Arizona-Utah border. The area features domes and ridges with contrasting colors and shapes. Some geologists believe that the unusual landscape was caused by a huge sand slide triggered by an earthquake back in Jurassic times. It was a sunny but very windy day on Bournemouth beach, Dorset, England. So I took advantage of the conditions to create this surreal long exposure of an iconic wooden groyne, of which there are many along the long sandy beach. Groynes are low-lying wood or concrete structures situated out to sea from the shore. [...] The post Bournemouth Beach Wooden Groyne, Dorset, England appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

When out and about, I always have a camera with me. This picture, 'First Light', was taken in the Royal Ponciana alley at St Andrews Estates, where we live. St Andrews is an 80-acre campus away from it all – in the Heart of it all. In addition to many landscape Photo ops – with [...] The post Boca Raton, Florida, USA appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

For the past 25 years, I have loved photographing my home state of Vermont from its many backroads. I have driven by and taken a picture of this lone tree many times. In mid-winter, snow to glorious sunsets to this pic in the fall season. It's located on an award-winning dairy farm for its amazing [...] The post Waitsfield, Vermont, USA appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

I had been planning this shot of the Wanaka Tree for several months in anticipation of our trip to New Zealand. We had arrived in Wanaka at about 3 pm the evening before in a pouring rain. We were camped in our rented RV in a park about a mile up the road from the [...] The post Lake Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

Unique weather patterns sometimes create an inversion along the face of the Bighorn Mountains in northern Wyoming, where the mountains rise above a lower cloud layer. The morning I captured this image, it started to look clear and sunny. Still, as I shot other subjects, I watched as the layer of fog cloaking the valley [...] The post Twisted Pine, Bighorn Mountains, Sheridan County, Wyoming, USA appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

This tree had to be photographed from a creek with alligators and water moccasins. It was my first time in a situation like this. I was alone at the time, wondering what lay in wait beneath me. The day before, I had met a woman coming out of the creek and asking whether there were [...] The post Lake Okeechobee, FL, USA appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

This almond tree has grown freely for decades without care. Today, it's a huge tree, tens of meters high, with many dead branches and almost no almonds (almond trees must be pruned and, if possible, fertilized and watered in order to produce fruits). A few days ago, in a magnificent twilight with a rising full [...] The post Louriceira, Alcanena, Santarem, Portugal appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

It was a freezing January day, and Yellowstone National Park was a magical winter wonderland. The air was crisp, the snow pristine, and the landscape serene and untouched, as if frozen in time. Among the breathtaking sights stood a solitary tree. Though seemingly lonely, this tree had been immortalized by the legendary nature photographer George [...] The post Solitary Tree, Yellowstone National Park, Montana, USA appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more

In the heart of Zion National Park, there is a place where time slows, and nature's artistry is on full display. This place is known as the Narrows, where the Virgin River has carved a deep gorge through the Navajo sandstone, creating a sanctuary of peace and beauty. Amidst the towering walls of the Narrows, [...] The post Zion National Park, Utah, USA appeared first on Landscape Photography Magazine ..read more
