When the Seahawks fired former head coach Pete Carroll a few months ago they said that he would be taking on an unnamed “advisory” role. Since then we haven’t heard anything about what that role might entail and we also haven’t heard from Carroll since his final press conference. One thing we can count on is Carroll putting in time around the Washington Huskies, where his son Brennan is on Jedd Fisch’s staff as the team’s new offensive coordinator. Pete was spotted at practice yesterday. No caption needed . pic.twitter.com/rqzujQEyw9 — Washington Football (@UW_Football) April 17, 2024 Former ..read more

There are several far superior athletes on the roster, but Geno Smith’s competitive fire continues to set the pace for the Seattle Seahawks heading towards the 2024 season. Yesterday Smith shared a photo of a chart at the team facility which shows the fastest speeds players have clocked so far this offseason. Smith was at the top of the list, checking in at 21.67 miles per hour – just edging out third-year cornerback Riq Woolen for the crown. Seahawks host Iowa DB prospect Cooper DeJean for pre-draft visit

The Seattle Seahawks seem to delight in upending our expectations of them in the NFL draft. Last year around this time all the smart money was on the team selecting Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter with their No. 5 overall pick. The year before they had everyone convinced they wanted Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder, and so on. What does general manager John Schneider have up his sleeve this time around? That’s anybody’s guess and so far the only hard reporting we have is from ESPN stating that the team won’t let Texas DT Byron Murphy II slip past them at No. 16. While that sounds pl ..read more

It’s been an eventful offseason for the Seattle Seahawks and their fans to say the least. It began with a thrilling one-point win over the division rival Arizona Cardinals, followed immediately by a short-lived but silly controversy over cigar smoking in the locker room. Since then the team has changed head coaches, totally remade the back end of their defense and brought in another backup quarterback via trade. Next week the offseason will culminate in the 2024 NFL draft, which is the main event of the non-football season calendar. Let’s take a moment today to review what the team has done so ..read more

Seahawks Wire
by Tim Weaver

The 2024 NFL draft is now just a week and a few sleepless nights away for all 32 teams and their fans. The Seattle Seahawks have put together two strong draft classes in a row and could set themselves up to finally re-enter true contender territory if they can manage a third. What they do in Round 1 will obviously have a big impact on their bottom line, but they’ll also need to hit the right notes on Day 2 and 3 if they’re going to catch up with the heavyweights around the NFC. With that in mind, Pro Football Focus has pinpointed a couple of Georgia prospects as the best fits for the Seahawks ..read more

Seahawks go DT, then G in this 3-round ESPN 2024 NFL mock draft

ESPN has a new 2024 NFL mock draft out this morning. It was a two-man effort between Field Yates and Mel Kiper, exchanging pick selections through three rounds. When the Seattle Seahawks were on the clock in Round 1, Yates picked Texas DT Byrony Murphy II at No. 16 overall. “Seattle needs to hammer the interior of the defensive line at some point early in the draft, and Murphy is the best defensive tackle in the class. He is explosive as a pass-rusher, and he plays with power, torque and leverage in the running game.” This fits with recent reporting from ESPN which suggests that the Seahawks ..read more

Julian Love calls new Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald 'incredibly smart'
Seahawks Wire
by Kole Musgrove

Defense has been a considerable concern for the Seahawks for several years now. Despite having a future Hall of Fame defensive minded coach in Pete Carroll, the defense has gotten a little worst for the past few seasons. This likely was the main factor in Seattle moving on from Carroll and rolling the dice with 36-year-old Mike Macdonald. Macdonald’s defenses in Baltimore were ferocious and difficult to score on, despite not having a roster stacked with typical “A” names. His successes in Charm City helped land him a new job in the Emerald City. So far, his new defenders are singing his praise ..read more
