Seahawks vs Steelers Preview

The Seahawks should get a lift from defensive end Ziggy Ansah, who is expected to play in his first game. Ansah and Jadeveon Clowney give the Seahawks two elite pass rushers who will get their pressures and sacks and also help their defensive line teammates by drawing so much attention from opponents. But I doubt that the Seahawks’ D-line will come up with five sacks like it did last week. I’d guess they’ll be lucky to get two. I say that because the Steelers’ have one of the best pass-protecting offensive lines in the league – Roethlisberger was sacked only 24 times last year. Compare that t ..read more

Let’s look at what Saturday’s game could mean for Seattle’s roster decisions that have to done by Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. • Geno Smith appeared to lock up the backup quarterback job. Paxton Lynch missed the game because of a concussion but will get one more chance Thursday against the Oakland Raiders if he’s cleared to play. Smith was 11 for 18 passing for 117 yards along with having six runs for 24 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t make a turnover. He looked good moving the offense. • C.J. Prosise looked great at running back and still has a chance to make the team. That’s a surprise being he’s m ..read more

DK Metcalf, a second-round Seahawks draft pick in 2019, missed Sunday’s preseason game. Weeks after seeing their first-round pick, defensive end L.J. Collier, carted off the practice field with an ankle sprain, the Seahawks have been dealt another injury blow – and potentially two – to their 2019 draft class. Second-round pick DK Metcalf will have knee surgery, head coach Pete Carroll said after Seattle’s 25-19 preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The rookie wide receiver missed the game with what general manager John Schneider called a “sore knee.” “DK’s got an injury to his knee that ..read more

John Clayton Breaks Down Seahawks WR Battle After Viking Loss

Lockett continues to look as though he’s evolved into a No. 1 caliber receiver. Brown is trying to lock up the No. 2 job as a starter, and his receptions of 33 and 19 yards helped his cause. It was bad news for the Seahawks that Pete Carroll revealed rookie receiver DK Metcalf will need minor knee surgery. That shuts him down for the preseason but Carroll thinks he could be ready for the start of the regular season. Metcalf has been one of the stars of the OTAs, minicamp and training camp. As for the starting jobs, it sure sounds as though Lockett and Brown are going to be 1-2. • Running ba ..read more

Paxton Leads The Seahawks To Victory In A Battle For The Backup QB Spot

In one night, Seahawks quarterback Paxton Lynch was able to take care of two pieces of business in Seattle’s preseason opener. First, he put together a strong showing to lead the Seahawks to a 22-14 win and help his chances to beat Geno Smith for the team’s backup QB job. Second, he did all that against his former team, the Denver Broncos, meaning the front office that cut him loose had to watch the whole thing. Bigfoot Lynch, a 2016 first-round pick by the Broncos who struggled as Denver’s starter and was released last September, gave the Seahawks’ offense an immediate boost when he enter ..read more

The #1 WR Is Tyler Lockett For The Seahawks But Who Will Take #2

The battle for the expected six wide receiver spots with the Seahawks is a good competition featuring hold-overs, rookies and free agents. It makes for great debates. You know that Tyler Lockett and second-round draft choice D.K. Metcalf are locks to make the team, but what about the other four spots? Danny O’Neil thinks one of the two returners from last year – Jaron Brown or David Moore – will be cut. You would think that Gary Jennings has a good shot of making the 53-man roster, but the Seahawks have flamed out on wide receivers taken in the fourth round before. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Update For Seahawks Training Camp 2019

• The best part of camp has been the offense. Russell Wilson is having his best offseason. His throws and movement have been spectacular. Receivers look fast and have been great catching the ball and the running backs and tight ends have looked good as well. The offense scored 26.8 points a game last year and averaged 30 points a game over the final eight games of the season. This offense has a chance to be one of the best in franchise history. Is The Seahawks Pass Rush In Trouble?
SEAHAWKBLOG.COM

For the first six games, the Seahawks will be without a player who had 10.5 of the Seahawks 43 sacks last year. And Clark, who had 14 sacks last year, is now in Kansas City. With those two players, the Seahawks had an average pass rush. Without them? It’s not like I expected Collier to be gangbusters this season. As spectacular as he’s become, Clark had only three sacks in his rookie season. I went back and looked at notes I wrote down about Collier after he was drafted and came across several that were promising such as favorable comparisons to Michael Bennett. But I also saw one that said h ..read more

Regarding Ansah, an offseason free-agent signing working his way back from a shoulder injury, Carroll said he’s “making great progress” in his first training camp with the Seahawks. Wind Spinners “He’s on track,” Carroll said. “I think he’s going to maybe be a little bit ahead of schedule by the time we get to it. He’s running really well, he’s up to 270 (pounds) again, his weight’s back, his strength is coming back. But we still want to make sure that that shoulder is really solid. His legs are in great shape, he’s doing all the workout stuff, but not all the team stuff.” MyNorthWest.com ..read more

The Seahawks Are Having A Great Start To Camp: John Clayton Breaks It Down

The Seahawks opened training camp with a surprisingly healthy team. During the end of the OTAs and minicamp, the Seahawks had as many as 20 players not practicing, but by Thursday afternoon’s first practice of training camp they were down to only three players on the physically unable to perform (PUP) or non-football injury (NFI) lists.  Here are a few thoughts at the opening of Seahawks camp. • The biggest surprise was seeing No. 88, tight end Will Dissly, on the field practicing on the first day. He’s made an incredible recovery from a patellar tendon injury suffered in Week 4 of last seaso ..read more
