Introducing the Sage Sonic and Maverick Fly Rods and ESN Reel Meet Maverick: Saltwater angling is more often a game of quick shots than long casts. Dropping a fly in front of a cruising tarpon 20ft off the bow can be the difference between success and failure during a day on the flats. In fact, most saltwater fisheries put a premium on getting the fly to the target quickly. Redfish meandering about Louisiana marshes, bonefish cruising marl-covered flats, and stripers slashing at bait all require a quick cast into “the zone” for high odds at a hookup. The quicker you can lay the fly down, th ..read more

The extended forecast isn’t showing much measurable rain and we should have much better fishing conditions this coming week. As the days continue to get shorter and the temperatures c ..read more

Shenandoah Valley Virginia Fly Fishing Report and News From Mossy Creek Fly Shop. The James and Shenandoah Rivers It is looking like we will be back on the Shenandoah this week. The James will need a bit more time to drop. We will update reports as we get out this week. We are cautiously optimistic for fishing this week. After a MONTH of waiting and losing about 90% of the trips we had on the books we are looking forward to getting in some time on the oars. The bass fishing should be great for the next few weeks if our weather pattern holds. We will be posting and updating details on soci ..read more

Shenandoah Valley Virginia Fly Fishing Report and News From Mossy Creek Fly Shop. The James and Shenandoah Rivers This is about the best clarity we found last week and it won’t improve much in the near future. High stained water can be a blessing in disguise as it gives you access to large fish that aren’t nearly as spooky. Well, August was a bust. What a shame to lose most of one of our favorite fishing months of the year. The Shenandoah was clean enough to fish about 6-7 days last month. We can only hope rains this week will end and we can dry out a bit for September and end the seas ..read more

We will monitor the clarity over the next few days but anticipate not being able to fish until around Friday the 28th… Our guide service has been overwhelmed lately. We have received upwards of 60 trip re ..read more
