This is how I’ve graded the class, based on tape study starting in May last year. 288 players in total are included and it’s been a long process to get to this point. I’ve not taken players off the board that I don’t think will be drafted by the Seahawks — so this isn’t a team specific board. It’s an overall grading board. Adam Schefter on the Seahawks and quarterbacks Schefter produced an article today with a number of short reports, none of which were particularly revealing, prior to the start of the draft. If we’re being honest, Schefter is a reporter who is willing to work on a quid pro quo basis. I think John Schneider is going to draft a quarterback next week. I appreciate it’s not the boldest of bold takes. However, when the Seahawks traded for Sam Howell I certainly doubted it at the time. I’ve come around a bit since then. That move, with hindsight, was undoubtedly an attempt to hedge the draft and make sure you didn’t come out of this off-season with no young quarterback on the roster. The alternative was scrambling around in the expensive, underwhelming veteran backup market. Thus, Howell to Seattle. I haven’t commented on mock drafts this year, mainly because most of them have had the same player at #16. Dane Brugler’s latest in the Athletic follows suit. However, I think his seven round mock today is interesting and worth a post. He did about as good a job as can be expected in terms of projecting a realistic haul for the Seahawks. There are still a couple of things I think are unlikely. He has the Seahawks using four consecutive picks on defensive players. I think there’s likely to be more of an offensive focus than this.
