Will anybody score?
With two of the worst offenses in MLB and two pitchers with ERAs of less than three, the over/under on this game may be 1.5. But, baseball gods being the jokers they are, it could end up 10-8.
Erick Fedde will toss for the White Sox, facing old buddy Lance Lynn, who seems to have found the Fountain of Youth by returning to the team that drafted him in 2008. The 36-year old Lynn has an ERA ..read more

But first, a Pop Tart break
As SSS duty geezer Leigh Allan and his son and west coast correspondent, Will, took to the microphones on May 3, the White Sox were 6-25, on pace for a modern-era, MLB-record 131 losses.
So, naturally, we took a moment at the onset to shamelessly plug the Jerry Seinfeld movie Unfrosted, because Will is in it (both face and handwriting) and it opens on Netflix on that very day. The Knights get shut out ... but the Barons win in extras, while the A-ball clubs flash big offensive production
Memphis Redbirds 5, Charlotte Knights 0 (Gameday Box) (Statcast Box)
For the second straight game, Charlotte’s offense floundered and their pitching staff allowed five runs. Despite failing to crack the run column in this one, however, the Knights did collect six knocks in the loss; catcher Adam Hackenberg, batting cleanup, produced two of Charlotte’s six. The lone extra base hit ..read more

Chrystal and Taylor chat about the upcoming series
Friend of the pod Taylor Streiff of Redbird Rants joins again to chat about the Cardinals ahead of the series against the White Sox. St. Louis made a lot of moves during the offseason, especially on the pitching side, resulting in an outstanding pitching rotation and bullpen.
You thought the Royals-to-White Sox pipeline was bad? Just wait! We spent a lot of time chatting about the connections between the Sox and the Cards, with the likes of Lance Lynn, Tommy Pham, Dominic Leone, and many more.
Here’s what we talked about in this episode:

The White Sox set their record for biggest win in team history, trouncing the Tigers by 16 runs, 19-3. With a 6-0 lead in the second inning, the visitors put the game away early.
The club also set their record for most hits in a game, with 25. Buck Weaver paced the Pale Hose with a 5-for-7 day, all singles; Weaver tied the team record for most hits in a game, which has since been broken with six hits but on just five occasions since.

In which we talk about Caleb Williams
On May 9, 2016, the White Sox beat the Rangers to improve their record to 23-10. A season that we went into without a lot of optimism seemed like it might be turning into a pleasant surprise. At 13 games up, you could arguably go .500 the rest of the way and make the playoffs.
That didn’t happen. The season fell apart, almost immediately. By the end of June the White Sox were worse than .500, and a tentative, s ..read more
