Belton House is a grade 1 listed stately home in Lincolnshire dating from the 1600s. Every year at Christmas time, they have Christmas light trails on the grounds, which is very festive. This year I decided to go, having previously gone there in 2019. I enjoyed the trail, which began at the estate’s stable block. There was a selection of street food vendors selling pizza, Indian stuff, and some others that I can’t remember. There was also a café where you could have a turkey roll. I had Indian twisted nachos with chicken curry sauce on top. It was quite

I recently watched a BBC series called NightSleeper, a drama about a train getting hackjacked—that is, hijacked by hackers. In this post I will give you my review of it. The premise Here’s the basic premise without giving you any spoilers. The train in question is the Heart of Britain sleeper train, which travels overnight from Glasgow to London. A diverse group of characters with different backgrounds and histories are on the train. After leaving Glasgow station, train staff discover a device being used to control the train. Subsequently, the train speeds off on its own, leaving some of the

Upon seeing the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris back in August (yeah it’s taken me a while to write this post), I decided I wanted to go and see some of the games. I read an article saying tickets were still available for the Olympics, so I quickly went to see what I could get. Ultimately, I got tickets for Taekwondo, boxing, and water polo for the final weekend of the Olympics. It was tricky finding somewhere to stay because it was fairly last-minute. We spent most of the day scouring hotel websites in the area of the venues for

You may have heard about the recent mania about Oasis reforming and planning a tour in 2025. Tickets went on sale last night and today, and by all accounts, it has been an ordeal trying to secure some. Especially so for disabled fans. I’m delighted to say that I was lucky enough to have got some tickets in the pre-sale on Friday night. However, I’m not writing this post to gloat but to highlight how some fans are at a disadvantage when trying to get tickets. I got lucky in the presale ballot and bought some tickets for the accessible

Last night, I went to see the Kaiser Chiefs at Lincoln Castle. It was an enjoyable night, and the band played many of my favourite songs. The accessibility was pretty good, but as I will explain below, there were things that could be improved. Accessibility The “accessible” entrance Upon arrival, we found ourselves in the Lawn car park, conveniently located right next to the castle. However, the West Gate, a mere stone’s throw away, was off-limits. Instead, we were directed to the East gate, a detour that could have been avoided. Our journey to the ‘accessible’ entrance involved traversing the ..read more

I’ve been enjoying various things I wanted to tell you about this week. Maybe it will give you some ideas for things to do. What I’ve been watching Sweet Tooth this TV series on Netflix is about a hybrid human Deer boy called Gus. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a virus which has wiped out most humans. I finished the 3rd and final series this week and found it addictive. It’s an interesting concept with a world full of human/animal hybrids whom humans are persecuting. Give it a watch if you haven’t already. Euro 2024 I

During an April visit to Wales for a family birthday, the writer explored Worms Head, a scenic landmark at the Gower Peninsula's most westerly point. Accessible through a temporarily exposed causeway, the terrain offers a fully accessible path for wheelchair users, ensuring stunning coastal views. The journey concluded with a pleasant meal at a nearby pub.

I visited South Wales, staying at Clementine Cottage in Port Eynon, a wheelchair-accessible holiday home. The cottage offers spacious interiors, an accessible bedroom with an ensuite, and several amenities accommodating mobility needs. The surrounding area, including a nearby pub and beach with variable accessibility, enhances the stay. Overall, Clementine Cottage is highly recommended for those seeking a comfortable and accessible holiday experience in the Gower Peninsula.
