Beautiful Barnett Hill in Bloom, Surrey UK

Barnett Hill is a beautiful boutique hotel in Surrey that swept us away. It is also easy to get to, and once there it feels like you are in your own little world of relaxation and luxury. It is a half an hour from London, or a short forty-minute drive from Heathrow. We drove in just under two hours, arrived at Barnett Hill and instantly felt lighter. It was a slightly overcast day, so we checked in early and grabbed a light lunch. But before I describe all the details of our two night stay, let me just say, no one wanted to go home when it was time. We truly got to relax and also feel pamp ..read more

NaturalMat — the answer to better (and healthier) sleep
Babyccino Kids

Since this little girl, who just turned nine, was a baby, Naturalmat has been a part of our lives. I was inspired by the product range on our Babyccino portal, before I even worked with Babyccino, while I was pregnant and looking for baby cots and soft fluffy sheepskin rugs. Naturally, Naturalmat was the obvious choice for a multitude of reasons — the first initially was location as their shop was around the corner in Notting Hill. Very convenient for me in London, but also they do have showrooms all over the globe! But more than that, the real reason I was drawn to Naturalmat was because of ..read more

Brilliantly Designed Board Books for Toddlers from Quarto Kids

The excitement of new books never goes away in our home. Whether it is a trip to the library or a new book for a birthday gift, we always get excited for a new book. But I must say quite honestly, that as a mama of three kids, board books don’t often spark joy any longer as they are often formulaic and very, very simple. Not to mention, I thought I had seen all the board books on the market. Until these genius Happy Yak books published by Quarto Kids arrived at my door. I can truly say that this series of board books really is so clever. Yes, I will also use the word, genius. In Quarto ..read more

Last weekend the girls and I enjoyed a little getaway to one of my favorite English countryside retreats in Yorkshire, Middleton Lodge Estate. This beautiful estate sits on 200 acres of privately owned parkland, nearby to the gateway of the rolling hills of the Yorkshire dales. Owned by James and Rebecca Allison, who themselves have two young children, they have together created a more than welcoming place for families. The thirty-six rooms are scattered across the estate; each having been individually designed, creating collections of calming bedrooms nestled into the original G ..read more

Super simple Bunting DIY
Babyccino Kids
by Courtney in Australia

A couple of months ago, Quin started up a little business selling pillowcase sets, skirts and scrunchies. (So cute!) He has been saving the fabric remnants to make bunting, and yesterday we finally set out to make some. We had been throwing around different ideas for ways to make the bunting until we found this wonderful The Best Way to Make Bunting YouTube tutorial, and realised it could be made even more easily than we thought! This tutorial makes it really simple, with minimal sewing. Here’s what you need to make the bunting: Fabric scraps (we used 8-inch square pieces) Bunting tape or c ..read more

Favourite first chapter books to read aloud to young children
Babyccino Kids

Over the recent summer holidays, I started reading chapter books to Wilkie (who is 4, turning 5 next month). We started with a family favourite, Charlotte’s Web, and next we read James and the Giant Peach, and from there we were hooked! I always find it can be a funny transition from picture books to chapter books, just in the sense that they don’t have illustrations on every page to keep their interest and it requires them to use their imaginations a bit more, but there are some wonderful chapter books that have illustrations scattered throughout, which help to keep their attention. We have ..read more

‘The Snowman’ is simply one of the best books, films, and soundtracks of the season. But have you seen The Snowman’s live performance in London by Sadler’s Wells? If not, I assure you, it will be the highlight of Christmas. Think big heart-warming fun. Children oooh-ing out loud, and perhaps even the smallest tear or two shed from pure joy. The power of live performance, the dreaminess of a magical winter wonderland, and the excitement of waking up to a snowy morning. That is what this show provides. We drove to the show through London’s spectacular Christmas lights, and got to the ..read more

Baby Bear Family — all recycled materials make this sweet family keepsake
Babyccino Kids

This is such a sweet and easy little activity. Great to make all year round, but especially wonderful to give as a little Christmas gift to loved ones that you can either pop in an envelope in the post or wrap for under the tree. I made these of my three little baby bears with leftover, reused cardboard scraps and some egg carton, scissors, a marker, and a pen. An old fashioned cameo, with a twist! Prep your materials, and get started! Here is my setup, and my instructions are very minimal as it is all about the materials here. But as a rough guide, we cut ovals of cardboard. Then usi ..read more

Cool and clever backpacks, bags and travel accessories your kids will love!

We have recently discovered the Dutch brand Craekker and their cool and clever backpacks and bags. What I love about the Craekker ethos is that they are on a mission to create ‘street-smart’ products for kids that encourage them to be independent and to do things themselves — to zip and unzip their backpack, to pack and unpack, to hang their bags on the hooks themselves, etc. They’re not just about designing cool-looking bags, but about making them as functional as possible — with zipper-pullers that are idea for little fingers, sturdy hangers that make it easy for little ones to han ..read more
