The Calgary Wranglers and the San Diego Gulls faced off on Friday night for their first of two games against each other this weekend. It was number one versus number 32 with the best and the worst in the AHL facing off in this game. Unfortunately for the Harvard Crimson, their season ended via a very one-sided 8-1 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA national tournament. Backlund’s path to the National Hockey League had a few bumps in it, but over the course of the past 16 years, he’s become not only an NHL regular, but arguably the Flames’ most important forward. The Vegas Golden Knights brought their game to Calgary and promptly showed the Calgary Flames what a playoff bound team looks like. Firing on all cylinders at all points of the game it was an impressive showing from the visitors.
