Adaptive learning is the future of e-learning. A bold statement to open with, but don’t be put off. From designed adaptivity to algorithmic adaptivity there is something for everyone. We have written in detail about online content strategies before, but today I wanted to look a bit more at the big picture.
Simply put, adaptive learning builds on the long-held understanding that different people learn in different ways. However, it is only recently become possible to use this knowledge to personally tailor an individual’s online learning experience. This is where e-learning becomes a super-tool ..read more

It may seem a bit like a Hollywood movie but robots are becoming a part of the hospitality experience across the globe. The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics mean it is becoming increasingly likely you will encounter a robot when you next enter a hotel or restaurant. But is this disruptive technology a gimmick or could it help address some of the labour shortages in UK hospitality?
What’s the issue?

World Menopause Day; a day to reflect on what has been achieved to improve the lives of millions of women around the world and how much more can be done.
The deafening silence that surrounded the menopause is now a thing of the past; we are at least talking about it more openly. More women, those close to them, health professionals and employers have a better understanding of perimenopause, menopause and post menopause. But, there is still so much more to do to ensure that women going through the menopause are appropriately supported in their personal lives and at work, and that young women ar ..read more

There is an ever-increasing awareness that mental health-related health issues are rising. The pandemic-related spike in stress has been linked to a variety of issues. For example, increased levels of stress, anxiety, lack of social interactions and other mental health problems. For businesses, it is crucial to look after their staff and help maintain their mental health. This is for both their long-term sustainability but also their bottom line. Mental health-related sick days and loss of productivity are one of the major business costs to UK businesses [1]. Before the pandemic, in the UK une ..read more

Many factors contribute to tough times for businesses, whether it’s a pandemic, a recession, fluctuating currency rates, a change in buying habits, political influences or high inflation. In the UK inflation is expected to rise to around 8% in the next month; the last time we last saw this rate of inflation was in 1991. The impact of this for business is the erosion of purchasing power as the currency devalues and the cost of materials and resources go up. Employers often feel the need to increase salaries as staff struggle with their own cost of living and customers buy fewer items with ..read more

Is this a true reflection of the state of health and safety training in the UK?
A recent survey by Digits, of 1001 UK employees and 60 UK Learning and Development and HR practitioners, found that only 55% of organisations offer their employees health and safety training. UK Health and Safety law states that employers must provide clear health and safety information and training to all employees, so what’s going on? 470 respondents stating that they aren’t offered health and safety training might sound like a small number, but it should be zero.
A Gallup survey found that 52% of participants co ..read more

“SMSHING”, “SMISHING”, or “SMS phishing” are terms used to describe the action of fraudsters sending text messages to mobile phones. Their aim is to get the phone user to click on a link and then either give away their private data or download malicious software. SMShing is on the increase and at this time of year people are particularly vulnerable to clicking on a link that looks like it’s come from a courier delivering a parcel.
We are so used to trusting text messages, which historically have come from friends and family, that we often don’t think twice about clicking on links that are in m ..read more
