Sorry for the ridiculously long hiatus. We have not had much time to write on our blog in the last year and a half. We are both healthcare workers and haven’t had too much free time. We were also busy in our personal lives. We got engaged, married, and purchased our first home. But enough pre-amble, on with the topic of the post, Edmonton’s first food hall! The 5th Street Food Hall is Edmonton’s first Food Hall. It’s located at 10344 105th street. They have a small parking lot just south of the building, and lots of accessible street parking nearby. The idea for the food hall comes from Just ..read more

There’s a Story Behind Every Cocktail Made By Guru Restaurant’s Innovative Mixologist Back in 2012, the owners of Edmonton’s Guru Restaurant travelled to Delhi, India where they met the charming, passionate and innovative, Gurjeet Khaira. It didn’t take long for them to invite him to work for them. Not only was Gurjeet’s nickname coincidentally, Guru, he was also an award-winning mixologist dedicated to the art of creating drinks and telling stories. Gurjeet had never heard of Edmonton and was quite shocked when Google brought up a map of Canada. Soon, he had packed up one single suitcase and ..read more

Hathaway’s Diner is a hidden gem in the Northwest of Edmonton. It’s a neighbourhood diner that could easily be overlooked, if it were not for the glowing reviews! They’ve been in operation for over a decade, but sold their restaurant to new owners in February of 2020. For parking, they are located in a small strip, but there is ample of parking on the street. They serve your typical diner breakfast foods like omelets, skillets, and breakfast plates. For lunch, you’ll find sandwiches, burgers, soups, and salads. On Saturdays, they make another specialty of theirs, eggs benedict. They have rota ..read more

Maria is a new restaurant Downtown. It occupies the space where Haweli used to be (take out and delivery orders for Haweli are still possible, as they share the kitchen). In terms of parking, there is street parking around, and a couple of parkades for paid parking. It was a beautiful day out, so we opted to walk. We were invited to check out the space and restaurant. Maria is Edmonton’s only Northern Mexican restaurant. Many of its dishes and themes are adopted from Sonora, Mexico. They have a large and big dining room, with some private rooms available for booking. The restaurant ..read more

Downtown Red Deer EATS!

I was approached a few months ago by Downtown Red Deer Business Association to do a campaign to help promote the Downtown Red Deer Restaurant scene. You can read a bit more about the promotion here. YYCfoodjunkie, a Calgary food blogger, was also doing a similar promotion to entice Calgarians to pay a visit to Red Deer! I was really excited to participate in this; Red Deer holds a close place to my heart. As some of you might know, I was born in Red Deer, and moved to Edmonton for school. My family still lives in Red Deer, so I do go back often (or at least I used to, I can’t remember the las ..read more

*RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED*  11998 109a Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 0M2 -Jenn Artisti Pizzeria is located on 119th street in the complex that holds Cafe Linnea, Doughnut Party, and the Local Omnivore. It is on the west side of the complex and has a few parking stalls, but there is street parking around. Due to covid, they launched DIY pizza kits at home. They have a variety of pizzas to try! and they are for a very reasonable price of $12. We opted to get the calabrese pizza which comes with spicy salami and olives. The dough was very soft and pliable and easy to shape into a pizza. Leduc w ..read more

4271 23 Ave NW #101, Edmonton, AB T6L 5Z8 -Jenn During Covid, we have been trying to eat locally, as much as possible. Tandoori Junction is one of the many restaurants that reached out to us, asking for us to help them with their business. It’s difficult for us to say no to these requests, and try to find time in our schedule to go when we can. Tandoori Junction is located south of Edmonton on 23rd avenue, in a small little strip. They are self described as North Indian, and serve marinated meat/food that’s ready to cook at home, and also sell prepared dishes that you can order to go. We were ..read more

10079 109 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 0J7 -Leduc Splash Poke is one of my favourite places to eat poke! To be fair, we only live a block away from Splash (Downtown), so we’ve often headed there for an easy dinner. I remember lining up for their grand opening, and being the first place in Edmonton to do poke, I was definitely one of the first waiting in the enormous line that wrapped around the street! (I still have my free tote bag for first comers!). Splash Poke recently launched a new product, their Poke Bakes! They come in a variety of flavours that you can choose from, and comes with sea ..read more
