I am quite certain that what everyone misses now besides having peace of mind is to travel… am I right or am I right? Some of you might have booked a quick trip last summer to escape Dubai’s heat. We did, but not to another country… we’ve gone to La Cocina, Los Lounges, St. Bathroom, and Santa Cama. Now that colder weather is around the corner and we have the freedom to walk around Dubai (wearing PPE of course), I found this new gem in JLT that sells pastries that will ease your itch to travel. Orange Puff Chimney Cake is in Lake View Towers Cluster B Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai. It is a newl ..read more

Bol Gappa

Bol Gappa is a Bollywood themed restaurant in Karama that serves Indian fusion dishes. It has a bright colorful ambiance that will make you curious what they have to offer. We opted for a light snack for dinner, and here are the dishes we ordered. Mexican Bhel – a fusion of Indian and Mexican. This Mexican Bhel used nachos seasoning instead of the usual chaat masala. They topped it of with corn nachos, bell pepper, red onion, and sev. It was a good combination that we were tempted to order again. However, Boll Gappa has a lot more to offer so let us continue… Crispy Schezwan- deep fried hea ..read more

The best part of travelling is food, and as what they say always save room for dessert. Japan has interesting desserts that are not overly sweet with a mix of other taste such as bitter or fruity. They use natural ingredients which makes their desserts lighter and more delicious. Get your sweet tooth ready and embark this journey with me on a Japanese adventure. Sakura Japan Sweets and Restaurant in Ras Al Khaimah offers a variety of authentic Japanese desserts. They also have fusion desserts with other countries which are equally interesting as their authentic items. We started off with th ..read more

Gaga Burger

Gaga Burger is a small restaurant in Satwa aligned with the tea shops and car accessory shops. It is a best place to chill and hang out with your friends after a long day. They are the only joint with an outdoor sitting area which is properly lit that gives you that beach party vibe. We ordered the regular combo, two burgers with fries and drinks for AED 42.00. When our order arrived, we were surprised. It was the size of a slider, not a burger. As for the taste, it is satisfactory. The burgers were okay but not exceptional. It seems that most of the money I paid was going to the rent they pa ..read more

Brown Rice Congee

White rice is simply peeled brown rice. In short, a lot of nutrients gone when the outer part of the rice was removed during the milling process. Brown rice is a highly nutritious food. It is a whole grain that is relatively low in calories (216 calories per cup), high in fiber, gluten-free and can be incorporated into a variety of dishes. That is what I did today, Vegetarian Brown Rice Congee. Congee or rice porridge is usually given to kids when they are sick. It is usually just plain white congee with a little sprinkle of green onion. This recipe is special… it’s healthy, appetizing to the ..read more

Desi Village Restaurant & Café

Surrounded by Indian friends and colleagues, I have been exposed to Indian culture especially food. I had Andra, Goan, Gujrati, Keralite, Mangalorean, Punjabi, and Rajasthani to name a few. None of them mentioned Desi. What is Desi? My question was further answered when I entered Desi Village Restaurant & Café in Al Garhoud. At first glance from outside, it may look like a small restaurant with the usual Indian food inside. Entering Desi Village Restaurant & Café is like entering the Dubai Museum but with South Asian culture displayed in every corner of the restaurant.  You will b ..read more

O’Pao

I first met Pao in Karama, kissing the red lips of tomato bhaji. In the same location, I saw Pao with a voluptuous batata vada. Lo and behold, Pao opened its own place serving different kinds of how you would like a Pao. Pao or Pav isn’t a person. I am referring to the slider which is like dinner rolls in many countries. In my country, we call it “monay”. O’Pao is a small fast food that can fit around 20 people. They have 15 options for the Pao. 7 veg option and 8 non-veg option. I ordered a few of their famous sliders which were served with fried pasta as side-dish sprinkled with masala ..read more

Sumo Sushi and Bento

I was at work and I was suddenly craving for maki roll. Maki craving is one of my seasonal cravings. Unfortunately, I cannot find a Japanese restaurant that delivers in JAFZA. I waited until 5 PM like a kid waiting for the bell to ring when she finishes school. I dashed off to the Metro and got off at DMCC station. It was a short walk from the station and I arrived at Sumo Sushi and Bento. Sumo Sushi and Bento mainly cater to deliveries, however, they still serve dine-in customers but don’t be surprised if they serve their dishes in a plastic platter.   It was d ..read more

“Kaapi” – South Indian Filter Coffee
The Taste Of Good

What type of coffee drinker are you? Strong Brew? Creamy and Sweet? Flavored? Let me share with you the best coffee I’ve had. Caffeine is the only addiction I had. I am a former coffee addict/coffee zombie. I wouldn’t function without coffee. I was a classic coffee drinker, a teaspoon of coffee with a little splash of milk and a little sugar. If ever I will add some flavor, it will be the nutty notes. via GIPHY The best coffee I mentioned earlier is the only coffee I drink now whenever I have the chance. It is called South Indian Filter Coffee. The coffee that doesn’t need a stirrer nor a teas ..read more
