The last weekend in July saw The Game Fair return to Hatfield House. With temperatures reaching the high 30’s in the preparation and set up days, it was a shame the British weather was at its most indecisive for the 3 days of the show. Surprising us all with rain and mud, but in true country British fashion we carried on and good fun was had by everyone. We thank you all for your ongoing support and to everyone who visited our stand on Gunmakers row, we hope you all enjoyed the show as much as we did.
Since returning back to the shop after the show we have been unpacking all of the Autumn Wint ..read more

On Friday 28th June we hosted a Simulated Game Day in aid of Diabetes UK. A few months back a customer kindly asked us to host an event to help him raise money for the charity and we were thrilled to help him with this.
The event went very well and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. The format for the event began with everyone meeting at the lodge for breakfast at 9am on the Friday morning where many people were able to see familiar faces that they had perhaps not seen for a while and catch up with one and other, along with meeting some new friends too. After breakfast was finished we heade ..read more

We hosted our first simulated day for 2019, held at the new venue in Ivinghoe Aston on Saturday. It went off very well and we have received some fantastic feedback from participants. The day was made up of drives designed to simulate Argentine Dove, High Partridge, Extreme Pheasant and included a 4 man pigeon flush (which got quite competitive!!) The refreshments, cooked by Lucy were very popular and included in field canapés of venison, partridge and crab, followed by a traditional ploughman’s with homemade scotch eggs.
We have been given the opportunity to host another Simulated Game Day on ..read more

Phew!! After months of hard work our new store is now open and we look forward to seeing you all here.
Our opening weekend of the Easter Bank Holiday in April went off well, with gorgeous sunny skies and lots of new and old faces coming in to visit us. There is a lot to update you all with, so as a fear of being boring we shall keep this short and hopefully include all the important info that will be of interest to you. But firstly we must thank everyone who entered both our raffles throughout the Easter weekend. The raffle, raising money for the Keech Cottage Hospice raised £85 and congr ..read more

Christmas is a time to celebrate with family and friends. A time where we indulge in some fantastic food and drink. I have put together a couple of recipe ideas that not only taste delicious but also champion the produce of our local shoots, game dealers, butchers and farm shops.
There is no doubt that most Christmas tables will be adorned with some sort of meat pie. In our house at Christmas we often have a pie like this in the evening with a selection of pickles and cheese. I discovered this recipe in the ‘Feathers – The Game Larder’ recipe book by Jose L Souto. I first learnt of Jose Souto ..read more

We are now stocking artwork products from Laloa.
LALOA was born out of a vision to take art a step further and Live A Life of Art®. Not just commercially producing stock images for the mass market, but creating hand drawn original art and turning it into something else that becomes part of the living home. All images are done by hand, currently by artist Liz Murray using watercolours, ink and acrylics (not necessarily together!). They are then scanned professionally to the highest standard and colour matched. Thereafter Laloa have collaborated with UK based independent companies to produc ..read more
