The Lagos State Government Environmental Sanitation has arrested 26 suspected miscreants, including a Lebanese national, for squatting under pedestrian bridges. The  state Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, April 18, 2024, said the 26 miscreants were arrested by officials under the bridge at Law School, Victoria Island, Ozumba Mbadiwe and under the bridge around Muri Okunola.  Wahab further disclosed that 82 individuals were apprehended at Onipanu, Ladipo, Ile Epo, and Oshodi for not using the pedes ..read more

An asylum seeker has been remanded in custody for raping a 15-year-old girl years after kind-hearted flight crew members fought to save him from being deported to his country. Anicet Mayela, 40, from the Republic of Congo, first came to the UK in 2004 but was set to be deported in 2005.  However, his flight was blocked by Air France cabin crew after they heard he was being sent back to his home country. The police in Lagos state have arrested a grandmother, Fatimo Ganiyu, for allegedly locking up her underaged grandchildren in her home in the Ikotun area of the state.  Ganiyu was arrested on April 17 after her neighbours in Agodo Egbe Ikotun alerted the Divisional Police Officer at the Ikotun police division that the woman locked up her three grandchildren, two boys and a girl between the ages of two and four, in her house.  The DPO immediately led a team of police officers to the scene who were able to rescue the children who looked unhealthy and malnourished. The su ..read more
