Five In A Row!

The Red Sox seem to be really getting it together lately and playing baseball on the level that they did all last season. They have now won their fourth series in a row and their fifth game and have climbed out of the hole with a record of 22-19 at present. They are only three and a half games out of first place and three games behind the Rays in third place for the division. They have a ways to go yet, but things are looking good and they may well be on top of the division before too much longer (perhaps in a week or two). Things are definitely looking up and after the poor start they got of ..read more

The Red Sox have been playing good baseball the past three games. They have managed to win their third in a row and sweep a series for the second time this season to boost their record to a whopping 14-17. Despite the poor record, if they can continue to play the way they have lately they should be out of the hole soon and even vying for the division lead not too long after. It is good to see them play as we all knew they were capable and if they can just capture some of last years magic by winning some close ones too, all will be well in Red Sox Nation after all. The last three games were no ..read more

Finally, A Good Win

The Red Sox finally won one last night and had what could be called a good game, which has been rare this season. The Rays led early with two runs in the first three innings, but the Sox battled back and took a 3-2 lead after 5. They added one in the top of the sixth only to give up two to tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Then finally in the eighth, they went ahead for good on back to back homers by Betts and Moreland. The pen was able to hold on for the win with Barnes taking the eighth and Brasier picking up his fourth save on the young season It was a good win that gives us fan ..read more

Struggling Onward

The Red Sox have been struggling mightily lately. After losing two, 3 game series in a row with Seattle and Arizona, they have managed to win one of two from Toronto. It was good to see them win a game for a change last night. They fell behind, as usual, at one point 5-0, but they managed to come back and win the game 7-6 with two 9th inning runs. Mitch Moreland was the hero again driving in two runs in the game that saw it tied each time 5-5 and 6-6. Finally, Devers got a base hit with the bases loaded to end the game in their favor. It was a rare win and we can only hope for a lot more wher ..read more

Can’t Cash In

Well, the Red Sox dropped the final two games in the series against Seattle in poor fashion. In both games they were given the chance to come back and win but did not take what was given to them. In the first game the Seattle third baseman made three errors in a row that resulted in three runs but they could not get the needed hit to drive in the run to tie or two runs to take the lead. In the second game the “closer” for the Mariners threw 12 balls out of 14 pitches and walked three to load the bases with one out. He was taken out and the next pitcher walked another to get the Sox within one ..read more

Is it 2018 Again?
Red Sox Fan Blog

The Red Sox looked like a version of their 2018 selves again in last night’s game. They managed a come from behind victory in which after 4 they trailed 6-1. They chipped away at the lead, blowing two 1rst and 3rd no out situations and then Moreland blasted a three run homer that gave them the lead for good in the top of the 9th. Barnes then came on and closed for the missing Kimbrell and the Sox held on to win 7-6. They managed such come from behind wins quite often last season so it was good to see them do it again. It makes us think it going to be another great season.   The starting pit ..read more

Opening Day

Well, the Red Sox played their first game of the season last night. It was a poor showing, especially for the pitching staff, as Sale, who looked as if he wasn’t ready for the season to start, had his worst opening day out of 5 by giving up 7 runs in 3 innings. The game was pretty much over from then on. It started out well as the Sox took the lead with a run in each of the first two innings. In the bottom of the 2nd, however, Sale fell apart and struggled, at the least for the next two innings, before leaving the game. Sale had been 4-0 with and era under 2 in his previous opening day starts ..read more

Prospects for 2019 Season

Well, here we are poised to begin another season of major league baseball and the Red Sox. Can they really repeat what they did last season or are we destined to see a team that falters and has a mediocre year, which is the norm for most teams coming off a world series win. I admit that last year I just quit writing about the team. They won so often that I couldn’t think of much to say, not to mention some personal things going on in my life that kept me from writing as well. I hope this season to be more regular with my posting and to get back to game to game analysis, which is what this blo ..read more

All Star Break (7-17-18)

Well, it is the unofficial halfway point of the season and the Red Sox are riding high. They now have a 4 and a half game lead on the Yankees for the division which is their biggest lead of the season. They have won all but 3 of their last 20 games and are probably playing their best ball right now. Let’s hope it can continue once they resume the rest of the season on Friday. Mookie leads baseball in batting average and several other offensive categories. Martinez leads baseball in home runs and rbi’s as well as several other offensive categories. The offense is doing well as several of the o ..read more
