The Cubs returned home to Wrigley Friday afternoon to begin a series with the first-place Brewers. Chicago received another quality starting pitching performance, but it was wasted once again by an unreliable bullpen and a total lack of hitting as Milwaukee manufactured three late runs to pick up a victory. The Cubs and Mets played another close game on Thursday afternoon at Citi Field, and this time nine innings weren’t enough to decide things. The offenses were a lot more involved than they were on Wednesday night, but New York was able to prevail in the 11th to split the series.
