Over the course of 2022, Guildford Baseball Club, had it’s new diamond at Kings College constructed. Although external fencing contractors were brought in for the backstop, the club itself carried out all the dirt work at the field, in building the mound, home plate and bases. Obviously we learnt a lot about field construction during this process, and it is detailed here, to act as a resource for any other clubs attempting to build a baseball facility. Junior Pre-Season Training 2024

With the new season of junior baseball due to start on Saturday 14th April, at Kings College, the club will be running a couple of pre-season sessions, indoors, before Easter, at Broadwater School Sports Centre in Godalming. The dates for these are: Sunday 17th Mar – 11:00 – 13:00 Sunday 24th Mar – 12:30 – 14:00 These are open to all existing members and anyone new, looking to get into the game. There is no charge for these sessions, although please contact the club in advance, so we have an idea of numbers on each day. 2024 Schedules released

The 2024 BBF season will start on Sunday 14th April. The Mavericks have the home opener on that date, as they will welcome the Oxford Kings, and renew the rivalry from last year. This is followed by a trip to Bournemouth to take on the Bears, the following weekend, before Bristol visit Kings College at the end of the month. The season rounds out with another visit from Bristol, before the regular season is closed out with a trip to Oxford. How to Build a Baseball Diamond

The 2023 season will see Guildford Baseball open it’s new facility at Kings College in Guildford. This will now becomes the clubs primary diamond, whilst Christs College will now be our secondary diamond. Opening Day will be Sunday 23rd April when the Mavericks host the Bristol Bats. This will be part of our Opening Day weekend, which will also include the Junior Open Day of activities on Saturday 22nd April, and GB U12 training following this in the afternoon. 2023 Junior Open Day

On Saturday April 22nd, we will be running a Junior Open Day to kick off the 2023 junior season, as we look to expand our junior programme, and take advantage of our newly competed facility at Kings College in Guildford. Running from 10am to 2pm, it is free to all ages from 6 to 15 and anyone can attend for all or just part of it. We will be running a mix of walk up games primarily based around tee-ball / softball / coach pitch-baseball depending on the ages and numbers on the day. Guildford Baseball always takes a break in playing activities from October through December, each season. We then return in the new year, with off-season, indoor training, whicch is mostly focused on batting and pitching practice and a chance to get the rust off from the off-season. Weather permtting we venture outside in March, and the British Baseball season gets underway in April. This runs throughout the summer, with games every Sunday until early Septmeber. The club held is annaul awards  event on Sunday 16th October. Another good turnout was on hand to recognise those who consistnely produced the best performances during the 2022 season. It was particularly pleasing to see 5 of the award winners for the adult teams, go to players who had progressed through the clubs junior programme. In addition to this, the volunteer aware went to Richard Williams who was absolutely key this season in ensuring the juior programme continued, especially in the very important U11 group. BBF Season Starts April 10th

The League have confirmed that the 2022 season for the adult leagues, will commence on Sunday 10th April. The Millers, who are now playing in the AA division kick things off at Christs College with a home game against Brighton, whilst the GoldCats travel to Bracknell to renew rivalry with the Inferno. The Mavericks have to wait until the follow week (Easter Sunday) to start their season, with a home game against the Richmond Dragons.     The annual Guildford Baseball Club awards were held on Sat 6th Nov, with over 100 members, family and friends in attendance, at the Seasons in Guildford Martin Visser, Mike Payne and Jack Burdett walked off with the MVP awards on the night, for the Mavericks, Millers and Gold Cats respectively, and there were special  awards for Chris Locke (Millers) and Pascal Barras (Gold Cats), for all they contribute to the running of the club on and off the field of play. 2022 Indoor Training – Starts 9th Jan

Adult, off-season, indoor training sessions will start from Sunday 9th Jan, and run through until March. They will be held every Sunday with two sessions each week: 12pm to 2pm 2pm to 4pm As always, the focus will be on pitching and hitting, and these sessions are open to all players 16 and over, as well as an Juniors who are 14 or 15, and wanting to play some adult baseball in 2022.
