The 2023 season will see Guildford Baseball open it’s new facility at Kings College in Guildford. This will now becomes the clubs primary diamond, whilst Christs College will now be our secondary diamond. Opening Day will be Sunday 23rd April when the Mavericks host the Bristol Bats. This will be part of our Opening Day weekend, which will also include the Junior Open Day of activities on Saturday 22nd April, and GB U12 training following this in the afternoon. The club held is annaul awards  event on Sunday 16th October. Another good turnout was on hand to recognise those who consistnely produced the best performances during the 2022 season. It was particularly pleasing to see 5 of the award winners for the adult teams, go to players who had progressed through the clubs junior programme. In addition to this, the volunteer aware went to Richard Williams who was absolutely key this season in ensuring the juior programme continued, especially in the very important U11 group. The League have confirmed that the 2022 season for the adult leagues, will commence on Sunday 10th April. The Millers, who are now playing in the AA division kick things off at Christs College with a home game against Brighton, whilst the GoldCats travel to Bracknell to renew rivalry with the Inferno. The Mavericks have to wait until the follow week (Easter Sunday) to start their season, with a home game against the Richmond Dragons.     The annual Guildford Baseball Club awards were held on Sat 6th Nov, with over 100 members, family and friends in attendance, at the Seasons in Guildford Martin Visser, Mike Payne and Jack Burdett walked off with the MVP awards on the night, for the Mavericks, Millers and Gold Cats respectively, and there were special  awards for Chris Locke (Millers) and Pascal Barras (Gold Cats), for all they contribute to the running of the club on and off the field of play. Adult, off-season, indoor training sessions will start from Sunday 9th Jan, and run through until March. They will be held every Sunday with two sessions each week: 12pm to 2pm 2pm to 4pm As always, the focus will be on pitching and hitting, and these sessions are open to all players 16 and over, as well as an Juniors who are 14 or 15, and wanting to play some adult baseball in 2022. Cost are covered by the 2022 annual player fees. 2021 is now in the history books as far as the 2021 season is concerned.  The Mavericks, Millers and GoldCats all completed a full season of fixtures (minus a few rainouts!), which had looked somewhat unlikely just 6 months ago. Baseball has been given the go ahead for 2021, and there will be games and practices for both adults and juniors. Adult pre-season training Outdoor sessions at Christs College (back field), will commence on Sunday 4th April, and will run for 4 weeks up to and including Sun 25th April. All sessions run from 13:30 to 15:30 and are free to attend for anyone 16 and over (14 and 15, with coaches/parents approval). The 2020 season was not quite a normal one. It did start with the usual indoor training and it ended with friendlies against other local teams, throughout September, once the regular season had ended. But the bit in the middle was just a bit………….. shorter than previous years. The adults managed a 5 week, 10 game season during the month of August, and both the Mavericks and Millers, fielded teams in the BBF Open Tournament.
