The Celtic Star

Chris Sutton has predicted that theRangers will suffer more results like last night’s stalemate with Dundee in the post-split fixtures. The Celtic legend watched on alongside Kris Boyd and James McFadden for Sky Sports Scotland, as Phillipe Clement’s team stuttered and ultimately flattered to deceive fresh off the back of losing to Ross County in Dingwall just a few days prior. “You can only avoid it if you lock yourself in the house,” Charlie Mulgrew
The Celtic Star

Charlie Mulgrew knows all too well what it’s like playing for a big football club. But when that football club is Celtic, then the stakes are immeasurable at times for the players. The former Hoops defender was helping promote this weekend’s Scottish Cup Semi-final at Hampden Park, where Celtic will face Aberdeen on Saturday, then our city rivals for the Scottish Premiership will play Hearts the day after. It will just be another day at the office for manager Brendan Rodgers, who emphatically declared that “this is when Celtic comes alive”, in the aftermath of our 3-0 victory over St Mirren t ..read more

“Bottle merchants” – Reality kicks in for despondent Bears

“Serial losers, that’s what we are. I’m disgusted… Bottle merchants” – Reality kicks in for despondent Bears… The bones have been picked over yet again this evening on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard phone-in with angry bears venting their fury over Phillipe Clement’s team and their capitulation in the last two matches. It hasn’t been easy for the Ibrox fanbase, having had to watch on in disbelief at the supposed world-beaters crash and burn to Ross County, then be held to a 0-0 draw in Dundee, this all coming after they celebrated their title win with a 3-3 moral victory over Celtic. theRangers ca ..read more

“Peter Lawwell is a nice man, he’s an accountant,” Lee Congerton
The Celtic Star
by Paul Gillespie

Celtic’s former Head of Recruitment, Lee Congerton, has savaged the club’s signing policy in the years gone by and insisted he could have signed more stars of the future had they loosened the reins slightly when he worked in Scotland. Lee Congerton Congerton was of course drafted in by Brendan Rodgers during his first stint in the Parkhead hotseat and managed to snare Moussa Demeble and Odsonne Edouard amongst others. However, the longer into Rodgers’ tenure at that time, the clearer it was for Lee that he couldn’t work under the restraints imposed by the bean counters at Celtic Park. Peter ..read more

Last night was a welcome bonus to Celtic’s title hopes this year and the way theRangers have imploded the past two fixtures has been magnificent to see. The declaration of “can you see us now” and “we’re coming for you” has been heard ad nauseam throughout the Scottish footballing universe since our pre-Christmas stumbles to Hearts and Kilmarnock respectively. theRangers v Celtic – Brendan Rodgers arrives for the Premiership match at Ibrox on Sunday April 7, 2024. As the Idah valuation rises, so too does Mikey Johnston’s

Permanently signing Adam Idah, even for the reported £6 million valuation would be a good move by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers… Adam Idah continues to impress in his short time as a Celtic player with 7 goals in 12 games, with many of those appearances coming from the bench. His numbers do make for impressive reading. Adam’s arrival as we know wasn’t exactly greeted with a great deal optimism, but the Irish international has shown that he has what it takes to succeed as a Celtic player. The negativity wasn’t directed at him but at the Celtic Board who looked like they were gambling with the ..read more

Well that was a wonderful Wednesday night for Celtic was it not? We were keeping an eye on three games, including the much postponed Scottish Premiership match at Dens Park where the visitors had already counted their chickens in regard to the three points. Last week on The Celtic Star we spoke about the importance of beating St Mirren then sitting back to see how theRangers could cope with two tough away games at Dingwall and Dundee. Celtic duly got the job done with an impressive 3-0 victory against St Mirren, who we now know will be back at Celtic for a third time on the final day of the S ..read more

Video – Scott Brown selects the favourite moment of his Celtic career
The Celtic Star

In the build-up to Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden the former Celtic captain, Scott Brown has been speaking to BBC Scotland. He’s asked to pick out one particular moment of success from his time at Celtic and Broony has absolutely no hesitation in selecting Tom Rogic’s sensational winner in the 2017 Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen that secured an Invincible Treble for Celtic. On a personal level that was the first treble of Broony’s glittering career but it would not be the last. “I’d say Rogic. Tom just does what Tom does. He’s a magician with th ..read more
