Rabbit pop-ups – Wave

The Rabbit pop-ups from wave are personally my favorite pop-ups. The color of the pop up, orange has never let me down. I usually go fishing on a river in Belgium. I’ve always caught beautiful carp with it. I make a knotless knot rig and combinate the pop up with a boillie like a snowman. The buoyancy of the pop-up is excellent! I prefer to use as small a bait as possible, a 16 mm boillie with a 12 mm Rabbit pop-up, a 20 mm boillie and a 12 mm pop-up. They are pop-ups with a good structure and the buoyancy will never let you down. On big lakes and large waters where i fish for the ..read more

Ultralight Night Fishing for Carp

Ultralight night fishing for carp It has been 17 years since I started to focus on carp fishing. Even though the era of the “boilie” had started, the use of bite alarms and nights spend at the waterside were becoming normal, I have seen a lot of changes.  The carp scene has boomed, also thanks to social media, and resulted in exceptional growth and commercialization. Some find these developments negative, but we have profited a lot from it as well. The product range of material and bait has been further developed than ever before. You can determine yourself how far you go along with the mark ..read more

Urban Carp Fishing

Urban carp fishing, not your normal days of fishing. As a carp angler we all love peace and quietness on the bank but why is urban fishing getting more and more popular? Here’s my story. As a born big city boy I am used to all the noise and hectic of a big city, so why not fish here. Yes, it is noisy, so you don’t go there when you want to go for a peaceful day at the bank, but it has its charm. The smell of cars the people walking around, the urban surroundings at the background. You hear sirens of an ambulance or police car, yes not your normal days at the bank. But I love it. Not a singl ..read more

Getting Ready for Spring

As anglers it’s one of the times of year we most look forward to, with spring approaching upon us. Daffodils are springing up and snowdrops coming into bloom, can only mean one thing. Carp will be coming out of there hibernation holes with the water temperatures rising, day light hours increasing, and the carp will start to look for food sources ready to for fill their appetites after a long winter of being led for days if not weeks on end. Although carp do still feed in short window periods on the big low stocked waters throughout the colder months, there metabolisms slow right down, meaning ..read more

Getting Things Started Part I

Getting things started – Part I It’s the end of February now when I’m driving to one of my favorite public venues. Day dreaming about scales and tales. A new carp season is on its way, and with the extreme high temperatures for this time of year a lot of carp anglers are pretty much ahead of nature. With temperatures up to 20 degrees at noon and minus -2 at night the carp might get a little confused, and so do I. What is best strategy for today? Questions the more, but little to none answers in theories. First thing I need to do when I get there is to take a walk and observe. In this time o ..read more

How to Catch Carp in Winter
Carp crossing | Dedicated To Carp
by Carpcrossing

Let’s start by remembering that carp metabolism is closely related to water temperature. Which means their temperature will come down and enter a state of torpor. Also their search for food and consequent digestion will slow down, thus increasing the hours after which the fish will come back to feed. By debunking an old theory, the carp will not hibernate but will continue to feed less frequently. Fishing in the river Po, I can say that there is also a feeding window that opens and closes approximately from dawn to 11.00 or during the night. During these few hours I managed to bring even up ..read more

United States Carp Angler
Carp crossing | Dedicated To Carp

Here in northeastern part of the United States we have a very distinguishable 4 season. Carp can be caught all year long even in the toughest of winter conditions. There are a few anglers who even target them through the ice. I prefer the open water, where even in the coldest of days you can get fish in the warm water discharges. John McGreevy with a USA mirror carpEven though it’s possible to catch fish in the winter months, there’s no feeling like getting fish in the spring! Nothing compares to that first warmth of sun on your skin and seeing nature come back to life again. It’s like the wo ..read more
