The Rangers and Caps played an entertaining hockey game that embodies what most fans would call “playoff hockey”. There was something for everyone here – skillful snipes, dirty goals from in front, physicality not just in the corners but all over the ice. Even the officiating, shoddy as it was, gave both teams things to complain about. But the Rangers emerged victorious over a Washington squad that was determined to do whatever it could, and more, to not go down 2-0 in the series. Yet, that is where the Caps find themselves after playing as good a game as they likely can muster against a NYR t ..read more

NY Rangers Lead 1-0 23 Apr 2024 7:00 PM EDT at MSG TV MSG, MSGSN, MNMT, SN, TVAS, ESPN The NY Rangers lead this Eastern conference first round series 1-0 after beating the Caps at MSG on Sunday, 4-1. Tonight they will try to make that 2-0 before the series moves to DC on Friday night. Game 1 broke about as well as it could for the Rangers so don’t look for many changes in their game play and the lineup is expected to be the same. However, there may well be a few fights in this one based upon late game shenanigans by Washington. Terrible Tom also had a few questionable hits on Zibanejad that ma ..read more

Game #1 Sunday 3 PM Per your requests, a new post for chatter about the upcoming first round series against the Capitals. If anyone lives in the DC area and would like to submit some hopefully informed comment on that team, please let us know in the comments. Though Chytil appears to be involved, AFAIK he has not yet been removed from LTIR. The Rangers needed two points to secure first place in the Metro division and two points they got, beating Ottawa at the Garden on Fan Appreciation night. Those two points also locked in first in the Eastern conference and the President’s trophy for most points in the entire league. Congrats to the men in blue and please do not touch that trophy! Scoring started early in the first period at 05:55 when Kreider and Roslovic took off on a 2-1 break away, Kreider down the left, Roslovic to the right. As he reached the circle, Kreider (35) passed cross ice to the wide open Roslovic (9) who beat Ko ..read more

NY Rangers (54-23-4) vs Ottawa Senators (36-40-4) 15 Apr 2024 7:30 PM EDT at MSG TV MSG, RDS2, TSN5 The NY Rangers lead, by one point, the Metro division, the Eastern conference and the entire NHL with one game left on the schedule. Carolina trails in the Metro/East and Dallas in the West. This will no doubt be a nervous nellie game given how much is at stake. Viewers may want to remove breakables from the TV room and use cans, not bottles or glasses which are easily knocked over or dropped. Just remember – even if they go down a goal or two early, even if it is in the first minute, this team ..read more

The Rangers emerged from game #81 of the 23/24 regular season with a shootout victory over their hated cross East River rivals, the NY Islanders, 3-2. This was not the preferred outcome of the game but it was essential to get two points, which they did. There was no scoring in the first period. However, penalties from the first period set up the first goal of the game early in the second. Huh, you say? At 16:47 of the first, Goodrow took a some what questionable holding penalty behind the NYR net. The penalty was killed successfully at 18:47 only to have Kakko take a high sticking penalty (wi ..read more

What ten days ago looked like a certainty now appears in danger. Time to put on the big boy pants! The Rangers were home last night against the Philadelphia Flyers. Did they think the Flyers came to play video games? Sure looked it. As has happend all too often this season, the Rangers gave up the first goal early in the first, York (10) putting one past quick at just 04:21 in. Neither Kakko (last in zone) nor Cuylle were able to make a play on York speeding into the zone. Earlier at the start of the play Miller wiped out in the corner. Wennberg did not look as he knew who he should take in front either. Ominous sign of things to come. There was brief hope late in the first at 18:19 when ..read more
