Tuesday night’s game from M$G, a Rangers’ 6-5 overtime thriller over their I-95 rivals, the Flyers, wasn’t exactly Peter Laviolette’s favorite match from the 72-games that he’s coached thus far behind the Blueshirts bench – but he most certainly was elated with not only the final result – but how once again, his squad continued to personify two different mantras – “NEXT MAN UP” and “NEVER GIVE UP!” As a result, “LAVY’S LOT,” atop of the NHL standings, and presently the odds-on favorite to win the Presidents’ Trophy too, became the first team of a league 32 to officially clinch a playoff spot ..read more

While technically, Artemi Panarin scored three goals tonight – one of them took place during the shootout, in what eventually became a Rangers’ 4-3 victory over the 2023 Eastern Conference champions, the Florida Panthers. However, while not officially recording a hat trick tonight, which had that been the case, then “THE BREADMAN” would have not only had back-to-back games with three goals to his name – but a nice round number of 100 points next to his name too – but either way, and as usual – “THE TRIBAL BREADMAN” saved the Blueshirts’ bacon on Saturday night. Behind two regulation goals, two ..read more

On Thursday night, in the city that made the lyrics “you wanna go where everybody knows your name” famous, the Rangers left Boston, MA with everyone knowing their names. Behind an “ARTIE PARTY,” aka a hat trick for Artemi Panarin, stellar team defense, a career-high 13th goal for the 2021 Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox, and of course, a tremendous showing in net from the goalie who is now the best American backstop in league history, Jonathan Quick – the Blueshirts won a hard-fought game against the Bruins by a 5-2 final – and where don’t let the final score fool you either – the Rangers netted ..read more

I know that I sound like a broken record, but what else am I supposed to say following the Rangers’ 4-2 loss to the Jets? After all, I can only work with the material that I’m given! On Tuesday night, at a Matt Rempe-less Morgue Square Garden, also devoid of life were the FAT CATS in blue. Against another top opponent, the BFF, Mika Zibanejad (2 SOG, -1) and Chris Kreider (4 SOG, -2), were blanked by Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck – aka “THE HUCKLEBUCK.” Another broken record of mine? One of my usual suggestions – it’s time for Peter Laviolette to take a look at Alexis Lafreniere (1G, 1A and a g ..read more

It would’ve been easy to make excuses and move on had the Rangers lost on Sunday – and even with their most-hated rival on the other side of the ice. Thankfully, and following the Blueshirts’ impressive 5-2 victory over the nomadic Islanders – such hypothetical talk is not required. Despite the deck being stacked against Lavy’s Lot, where this St. Patrick’s Day Mass at M$G was the team’s sixth game in nine nights, their fifth game in seven days – and the second half of a back-to-back set where the Blueshirts had just played a road-game 22-hours prior – stamina, nor endurance either for that ma ..read more

As they usually do (or at least this season anyway!), the Rangers, following their 6-3 loss on Thursday night in Tampa, “found a way” to rebound on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh – and as they did during their 7-4 late matinee victory in the black-and-yellow city. In addition, and in what feels like the first time in franchise history too – not only did the two under-performers, Mika Zibanejad and Kaapo Kakko, score huge goals – but the power-play also connected for two scores – including D.J. Mika’s eventual game-winner. In what can basically be summed up as a “get right” game – Lavy’s Lot ..read more

By the half-way point of the Thursday night “Tango in Tampa” – and the Rangers were still arguably enjoying their best stretch of hockey this season – a stretch that had now reached ten-and-a-half periods – which also included their three previous wins against St. Louis, New Jersey and Carolina. Up 2-0 at the time, a Jonny Brodzinski turnover eventually opened the floodgates in what ultimately became a Lightning 6-3 victory. While you can’t exclusively blame Mr. Hockey for tonight’s loss, what you can say is that this game felt a little bit like deja vu. After all, and as you may already be aw ..read more

On Tuesday night in “Raleighwood,” and in what was billed as a playoff preview between the top-two teams of the Metropolitan Division, CZAR IGOR defeated Pyotr Kotchetkov in a goaltender’s duel, as the Blueshirts derailed a chance of the Canes gaining ground on them in their 1-0 victory. As a result of the “four-point” win, the Blueshirts (90-points) increased their first-place lead over the “Bunch of Jerks” (84-points) to a six-point margin – and where each team has seventeen games left remaining during this 2023-24 campaign. In other words, that “magic number,” as in officially clinching a p ..read more

Buy a lotto ticket, as Mika Zibanejad, in his 31st game played since December 23rd, 2023, finally scored an even-strength goal on Monday night in the Rangers’ 3-1 sixty-minute effort victory over the Devils. But somewhat similar to Matt Rempe out-shadowing CZAR IGOR’s Saturday night’s shutout against the Blues; once again, it was #73 who received all of the headlines following this win. And no – I don’t know what Rempe has against the Swiss-born Jonas Siegenthaler either – but whatever the Devils’ d-man said or did – Rempe is not letting go of it – and as Siegenthaler’s concussion spotter can ..read more

While some fans, and really, just for the sake of arguing/debating, will bring up former Blueshirts such as Sean Avery, Tie Domi, Nick Fotiu, Don Murdoch and others – but really – has there ever been an other rookie in Rangers’ history, that just three weeks into his career, that became a true Cult of Personality and fan favorite in the same fashion that Matt Rempe has? On Saturday night, and during his eighth career game, the Garden Faithful roared whenever REMPESTEIN took the ice for a shift – and for good measure – loud “REMPE! REMPE! REMPE!” chants were also belted out towards the end of t ..read more
