On a drab and dreary night in Ottawa – and where the Rangers were at their absolute worst – the horrendous crew at the M$GN one-upped the Blueshirts’ putrid performance. No joke, there were about 9867869676 times during tonight’s 6-2 loss when I wanted to transport through my television, like how they do in those bad B-horror flicks – and once there – then give Sam Rosen the “Moe Howard” treatment – and with all of the works too – including a finger-poke to his eyes! (Holy dashes Batman!)

On Sunday night, in the Rangers’ latest “Find-A-Way” victory, a 6-5 downing of David Quinn’s San Jose Sharks, “The Breadman,” HARTEMI Panarin, scored a hat trick – and for good measure – baked the game-winning assist too. While some people may harp on the fact that Jonathan Quick wasn’t at the height of his powers (but he still hasn’t lost a game in regulation yet – and as his 7-0-1 record will tell you), and while others may groan over the fact that the Blueshirts almost blew the game too – a win’s a win – and oh yeah – LAVY’S LOT also maintained their status as the best team in all of hockey ..read more

Unlike the milk being consumed here by the Rangers’ Vincent Trocheck – and as depicted in another one of my horrible photoshops – I’m starting to think that Blueshirt backers are getting “spoiled.” On Saturday night, during the first period of the Rangers’ eventual 4-3 victory, all I saw and received were “GLOOM and DOOM” comments. If you didn’t know any better when reading such commentary, then you would have thought that the Rangers were floating in the toilet – and just like how the nuggets, aka the New York Islanders, currently are in the league’s standings. While sure, no one likes to los ..read more

As teased last night on this site (https://bluecollarblueshirts.com/112923/ ), I’ve been doing these report card blogs (25%, Mid-Season and Final) for nearly a decade now, about thirty report cards in all – and I have never handed out as many A pluses as I’m doing so tonight. But when you’re 16-4-1 (33-points), best in the league – then of course – there should be a lot of A pluses across the board!

While it’s Alexis Lafreniere that’s most famous for his baseball swing on the Rangers, it was his hockey shot that set-up teammate Jimmy Vesey for the homerun connection, as the fourth-line grinder, and perhaps Bobby Carpenter 2.0 too, scored the game-winning goal with only 4:15 remaining in regulation during the Blueshirts’ 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night.

In my eyes, the most concerning thing about the Rangers’ 5-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres at M$G on Monday night was in regards to the injury that Kaapo Kakko sustained during the final stages of the second period. But without trying to sound cruel or boorish – will the Blueshirts really miss Kakko if he’s out for any extended amount of time? That said, if you were ecstatic about the Patrick Kane talk/rumors being dead-and-buried, then get ready for another round of such discussion!

In what feels like a first-time ever thing in franchise history; the Rangers not only swept their pair of back-to-back matinee games – but they also won each game by two or more goals. Following their 3-1 victory over the Flyers on Black Friday; come Saturday, the Blueshirts bested another opponent, this time the Boston Bruins, by a final score of 7-4. As a result, the Rangers have not only swept their first back-to-back set of the season, but along with their recent road wins in both New Jersey and in Pittsburgh this week – they are also knocking off some quality competition too! WOW!

On Thanksgiving Eve – or as Sam Rosen would say – “HAPPY EASTER JOE!” – the Rangers, behind back-up backstop Jonathan Quick, shut-out one of their most detested rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, by a final score of 1-0. An Alexis Lafreniere backhanded goal, which is becoming commonplace these days, was all that was needed in the scoring department. However, this was also a team-wide victory, as behind a five-for-five penalty kill – and a whopping twenty-five blocked shots too – every Blueshirt (and this somewhat includes Kaapo Kakko as well), contributed during Wednesday night’s gut-check win ..read more

Throughout Mika Zibanejad’s 500+ games with the Rangers over the last eight-years, I think I’ve probably made 8567578667567567 bad photoshops of him in regards to his cold snaps – which is one for all of his 856757866756756 one-timers that never hit the net! While a lot of what I’m about to say below about DJ M.I.A., the streakiest Ranger of all-time, will sound redundant tonight – it’s still the truth – and all of it was showcased on Monday night, in the Blueshirts’ 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars.

Artemi Panarin, who has exorcised his ghosts this season following his disappointing performance from the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, was once again the biggest catalyst in another Rangers’ victory on Saturday night. “The Breadman,” who has now surpassed Rod Gilbert’s franchise record for most consecutive games with a point to begin a season (now up to 15 straight games – including numerous multi-pointers during this stretch – and as was the case tonight), scored two goals during his nine shots on goal in the Blueshirts’ stunning 5-3 win. At the risk of sounding like a “Debbie Downer” – we can ..read more
